Total Funny/Sad Thread on Another Forum

I had to share this.
I just spent the last 45 min reading a thread on a Toy forum ( Spawn.com )that slowly turned into a train wreak. Sadly this type of thread is not uncommon there. I'm glad we here are a little, no, I mean alot more civilized.
THE WHOLE TRAIN WREAK

WOW, that is bad. usually the mods here shoot down my anti-(insert company here) posts before anyone gets a chance to rant back (a fact for which i am thankful). that was straight bashing.

evil tendencies

Cake or Death?
We gots good people around here, no doubt.

It might be considered slightly bad form to cast aspersions on another community, though, even if the intent was to compliment us. CMON isn't immune to the occasional troll, and I'd hate to think that someone might post our dirty laundry on another forum - as unrepresentative as it may be.

Sorry evil, my apologies.:disapointed:
But it never gets that bad here without somebody stepping in and taking action.

Reading threads like that is in a way comforting ..... 1- because we dont, or at least don't allow that kind of behaviour here and 2- because it's nice to know that people who get off on those kind of threads are sitting in front of a computer rather than scaring people out in the real world :0)

I never feel "comfortable" about threads like this one as it seems to me all to easy to point fingers and laugh. I'm not saying we are perfect, far from it, just that we shouldn't consider our online community any better or worse than anywhere else.
Coolminiornot has not been without contentious issues, however in the vast majority of cases, sadly not all, they have been carried out as discussions between reasonable adults.
Normally we are pretty self-regulating when it comes to issues like this, but I'd hate to think that we as a community would allow ourselves to become mired in a personal attack fest.

Its not like CMON doesn't have Scribor.
Tsk tsk.

We three moderators do try to be as lax as is possible.
Normally it takes something really beyond what the forums consider acceptable behaviour for any of us to "shut the door", but as always we try to be a concensus.
Supervike is Good cop.
Avelorn is the Mediator.
I'm Bad Cop.

And about that, I'm really glad Avelorn is a mod with you two now. All that happened when I was gone. I think it works :D

Don't get me wrong - I am not saying Scribor is a bad man, I have defended him before and would do so again. Just pointing out that we HAVE had threads similar to that on CMON.

I still get a wry smile thinking of one thread where it got to the point of someone suggesting another member should "drink poison" (not a scribor thread btw). Plus I have of course posted both here and in other forums when life has been kicking me in the arse, it is rare that in those times that the little voice telling me not to send that message gets listened to.

Oh man, do they not feel the need to have some moderation? Jeez.

Some of those guys SO need to go and get a life.

Amen. I hate unmoderated forums or those that are moderated so loosely that they're effectively the same thing.

Yeah, but that was a "language problem", remember?

I think I've only had three or so threads locked down, and maybe 3-4 mod warnings around here. Good times!

Oh, that link takes me to nowheresville. Anyone know the name of the thread?

Yeah, I couldn't get onto it either.

I think it's a ruse, signing us up for Spawn toys!

That's such a lame hobby, I mean who the hell collects tiny little articulated warriors and puts so much time and effort into them?

Articulated!

The thread was deleted on the forum.
The last I saw was late Sunday night it continues past 7 pages ( I posted when it was on page 3 ) and after that the whole forum was inaccessable till this afternoon. For those who read it I'll fill you in on the aftermath. Definately there will be some banhammering going down.

Supervike, you will be surprised how big that market is. The toy industry is bigger than the minis industry we are in. There are alot of people who do not have the ability to paint their own minis and like to collect. Their solution is to buy the painted figures and collect.
I'm on that forum everyday because we sell alot of theirs and other toys and sometimes it a good source of info but sometimes provides entertainment ( good and bad )

I'm not trying to recruit anyone to that forum, but Mcfarlane does put some nice action figures ( non- articulated ) large scale figures that are quite nice. For example their version of Vlad the Impaler. I'm going to strip it, do some clean up and do a repaint. A 180mm figure for $15.00 is cheap.
Here is their HORROR , FANTASY & SCI-FI Section
Here is the FACES OF MADNESS series
Problem most are hard to find now especially Elizabeth Bathory.

Fill us in, what was all the hullabaloo!

I'd rather drink goat piss than give Todd McFarlane a dime, but that's just the ex-comic shop employee who had the priveledge of stocking shelves with 8 variant covers of every single Image comic title that came out (And most didn't sell past issue three) and I got to face hordes of comic buyers week after week wanting an explanation why their title was X weeks/months behind. Man them early 90's! Great times as a teenager getting yelled at by a 35 year old vrigin because their latest freaky anime/manga spank material got held up at customs because they didn't think dogs who look like people having sex (doggie style of course) in the cockpit of a 'mech was art. But that is for a different thread. I wanna hear the Toy bashin' story!

Yeah, sorry about that ....I was actually using sarcasm to make fun of our own little hobby here....(it's basically the same hobby, just a different scale!)

And there are fantastic toys out there...I even have 1 or 2 (or twelve)

LOL

Sometimes, I'm hard to follow since I just assume everyone knows I'm always trying to be a smart ass.....

Yeah we it comes to hobbies and thowing stones we live in the glassiest house of them all. I mean, we collect dolls, paint them, play with them (Usually), and then submit them to be scored. I don't even know how to get nerdy-er than that.

But I am quick to point out to any who make fun of our hobby and the people that participate in it that I have been laid. Often. Consenually. Women. Without any money trading hands. And then I go lift something heavy like a tractor tire to show them how manly I am.
