Thoughts on lotus dancers

My LGS just got in the next infantry boxes. This includes the Shael Han lotus dancers. I was looking at their stats and rules in the book and I just felt very. . . Underwhelmed. Is there any reason to take them over my legion or wrath? Am I missing something about them that make them good/usable?

Maybe if their leaders are the Black Lotus or Madam Mui, where they gain some bonuses. Otherwise, they're pretty average and I can't think of a reason to choose them over the Dragon Legionnaires. (But that's just me. Waiting for someone to tell me why the Lotus Dancers are awesome) :wink:

I'm also on the fence whether to get them or not. My other question is whether to buy more Wrath or Dragon Legion lol

I was almost tempted to buy them just so I could get my 5th leader and be able to play bigger games. But after the character leaders come out I don't know if I'd ever really play them. Also is there a typo in the book for them? It says they are only speed 5. This seems way too slow for what they are supposed to be. The black lotus is speed 7 and jade lotus is 6.

Plus they're also one of the slowest troops around with just 5 movement. Must be those tight dresses that constrict their running abilities :laugh:

so we tried them out. they suck in theory but in every battle weve used them they pull their weight. they are scapels not hammers. the movement 5 my wife complained about also...but they start in zone c. so they dont need super fast speed and coupled with insights they can be devestating. also ill let you figure out on your own how but they are the best pelegarth slayers in the game.

So ended up buying them on impulse on Saturday so that I would have enough leaders to do a biker game. Used six if them and their leader. Have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Their speed wasn't as big a problem as I thought it would be since they start in deployment zone C. Their reaction that gives them the free sprint is golden. I was playing disrupt supply lines and three of them got their sprint to go off letting me have all 3 get to objectives and drain 6 moral from my opponent. Didn't use their leader's enlightenment but her inspire helped out a lot. I'm convinced to give them a second chance and try them out some more.

I'd defiantly recommend them for motivations that involve either getting to an objective or escorting an objective. Their movement tricks can be a great boon. Might try them with Deathbloom so I could use her stalker enlightenment to make sure they can get the free disengage on their turn.
