I highly doubt the authenticity of this. There is no trustworthy source behind that article. Especially the mention of the german "Panzerpferd"- variant seems fishy. Seems to go against naming conventions and "horse sense" (pun intended). I have sees similar scams set up by steam/dieselpunk enthusiasts about monotracked vehicles, Ufos and ww2 robots. Ist all too easy to manipulate photos these days.

Although I agree with you for the original article, you must remember earth was a very strange place from 1911-1958. A great many governments threw money at a great many strange ideas and a lot of "prototype this" and "old that" came out of it that looked highly science fictioned. As Steampunk/dieselpunk enthusiasts do make it hard with fake articles (myself as a steampunk/dieselpunk do not approve of the practice of misguiding the normal people into believing such falsehoods) they are also the ones finding the old references to these projects, and as time goes on many governments are actually releasing these records to such "top secret" projects. Wait until we are 40 and 50 and we get all the 1950-1990 test documents on time travel and alien technology and whatever else weird stuff we get.

As a great quote: "You don't think we used all that money on a toilet seat, do you?"

Miller Id not noticed the similarity until you posted them side by side. It makes you wonder if it would have been more practical if it was smaller like on the mg08!
