I recommend green starburst for bait..

My friend (farm boy) told me this, I didnt belive him, I tried it and it worked... this was after we tried all the normal stuff, like penut butter etc...

Try waking the cat.
I\'ve actually had more experience of cats bringing mice (and other small animals) INTO the house, than getting rid of them.

My parents\' cat (which is dead now) brought a mouse into the kitchen a few years ago. My girlfriend caught the mouse and took it outside, a good distance from the house. Not even an hour later the cat came inside with the same mouse in its mouth (we recognised some spots in the fur). So we had to catch the mouse AGAIN and release it several blocks from the house.

We caught 5 mice in the attic a while back, released them in a field down the road. We found that chocolate attracted them best - something with caramel in (like twix) as it stuck to the end of the trap.

strawberry jam or peanut butter on the trap trigger works best. Just sticky enough that they have to work at it to get the \'prize\'.

Remember, the early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese....

So.... possibly have more than one trap then? lol

I had a mouse infestation.

Rang the local pest control officer (East Riding County counci). He came round and put down poison. I also put some in the cavities between the kitchen cupboards and the walls. Lots of places my son could not get to!

Strangley no more mice...

Traps will kill one mouse at a time, there\'s always ten more!

The trouble with poison is where the mice die. Not so bad out in a barn, but dead mice stinking up your wall cavities is not pleasant.

actually most rat poisons made nowadays dehydrate the mouse or rat and mummify it. so instead of a bad smell, you just have mummified mickey mouse awaiting his return. now zombie mice!!!! thats something to think about.

If you wants \'em dead, you can use that expanding foam stuff in the obvious spots they may come through. They tries to eats it, but it poisons them. Kills \'em dead!

Very true... but there\'s nothing more satisfying than hearing that \"SNAP\" and knowing that there\'s one less mouse in the house. Also you have the benefit of burying the rodent in the garden .... who needs to buy fertiliserlol
I have 2 cats..... during the summer the garden does get quite a lot of natural fertiliser dug into it.

I take your mouse and raise you a cat sized rat !!!! I kick you not.
The Warehouses I work at are in the countryside and we also have a grain mill on site, you have not seen a rat till you see a grain fed rat. You can hear these dudes coming.

Something that makes rats grow like crazy is garbage as well... was with my mom\'s fiancée at his job once and one of there buggers ran right in front of me hissing. scared me half to death it did! I swear, this dude was at least half a meter in body, was way too scared to note the tail. Mom\'s fiancée told me that you usually had to shoot those buggers twice to actually kill them. talk about Hp and kickass con values there! lol

A guy here at work came running out from the bathroom, screaming, with his trousers around his ankles a few years ago. Apparantly, he had been sitting there quietly, taking care of business like you\'d normally do in the bathroom... probably reading something (a habit I\'ve never understood), when he saw a rat sitting on the floor looking at him.

We closed the door to the bathroom and called pest control, but the rat disappeared. Most likely, the rat had come through the sewer pipes attached to the lavatory, and disappeared the same way. We never saw it again.

Maine Coon FTW!

This is Whiskers at 3 months - she\'s 3 years now and 3 times as big. Look at those paws! We have two other cats and yes, as DR said, had to go wake them up when any vermin invaded. Then it was touch and go - they were most often scared.

With Whiskers, she does enough work for all three. No trouble with vermin - period. I need to get some new pics so you can see how big she is - over 15lbs for sure.
