Teknes Strategies

It may be too early to start such a thread and it may belong in a thread already created. If so i'm sure it will be placed there sooner than later.
I plan on playing Teknes and because I find them lacking in synergy compared to most of the other factions I'm interested to see if anyone has found any good combos for them. The one I found that lead me to create this thread was the Zaalak's "Unleashed" ability combined with the Union Boss's training. Place the Zaalak in front of several Union Workers. If the Zaalak is attacked and suffers an Overpower result then shift the damage from it to one of the Union Workers. Unleash goes off and both the Zaalak and the Union Worker live. It keeps the Zaalak alive unless your opponent gets lucky or dedicates a lot to killing it, and Abomination will affect your opponent longer. :pig:

Unfortunately that tactic wont work, the reason being the Union boss's training ability only moves the damage, not the result of [Overpower]. Thus you would unfortunately kill the Zaalak and nothing else would happen. I will give you some tips as you have asked though, one of the tactics I never saw anybody use, is that training ability, if you stack your ranks accordingly you can spread out enough of the wounds to power up your union workers. But keep the Ironward close for his inspiration, you can basically soak a bunch of damage, swing in, heal and then repeat. So use the Union boss's training but the Ironwards Inspire, its pretty good =).

Another layer stacking with Teknes that is fun, put Linemen in front with union workers directly behind, when the linemen take hits, transfer onto the union workers, if they scored any armor results, you still get you counterattack and your union workers are powered up for their attack too. That training ability is very strong but a little underused.

unless I am horribly misready both your posts, it sounds like are misreadin his example. He is describing having the zalaak get hit with an overkill and moving damage off it, his allowing it to use its unleash without ding. It sounds like you are saying you cannot move damage onto the zalaak
to trigger the unleash because it requires it beig hit with an overkill as opposed to just taking two hits

I got curious since I haven't played against or using Teknes yet. It looks like, based off the current rules, that urionfranz's tactic would work. If it's wrong, I'm a little curious why. To break it down:
-The Zaalak gets hit with an Overpower result.
-This triggers the reaction, the ability is performed.
-The two strikes are converted into one point of damage, as per the Zaalak's Resilience 2.
-The Union Boss's training triggers, transferring the 1 damage to a Union Worker.

Or maybe someone has it flipped around?

Edit: Moving on.

A quick look at their rules shows that Teknes, in addition to their crazy damage transference capability, are really good at keeping opponents tied down in combat. There are a lot of good reasons to keep your troops tightly packed, such as the Cage's and Sorik's Ward aura, not to mention the Ironward's 'plug that hole' training that allows you to re-engage an enemy with a free trooper if one of yours goes down. The Galvantic Defender is worth every penny too, I've seen what Superior (any Defense) can do when you're faced with elite infantry and their Rate(2) attacks. It seems like Teknes is designed less to buff their own offense rather than to make sure they get to deliver that nasty counterattack. I'd wager the Union Workers with a Union Boss's Training are pretty much on par with elite infantry.

@lorat yes your correct I misread unions comment, to get through all the comments I read quickly.
@union your correct you can use that strategy to transfer the damage away from the Zaalak currently :)

@Leif: Lol. Yay! I'm glad to hear it. :)
@Lorat: Thank you for helping to clear up the confusion. :)

I'm hoping this is true. I see his job as keeping my specialists alive.

On a related note, if the Zaalak has Superior Warding and an Overpower result is rolled along with a Magic result Unleashed would trigger without the Zaalak taking a wound. Because an Overpower is two hits, but the Superior Warding cancels one of the two and therefore his Resiliance of 2 prevents the damage.
