From December 2005, Gamers Quest has joined with Tabletop Games Ltd. to become a major force in UK wargaming.

About the Companies

Gamers Quest has recently established itself as one of the UK’s premier sources for hard-to-find fantasy and sci-fi miniatures from the UK, Europe and the rest of the world. Selling via their website, www.gamers-quest.co.uk they have built a reputation for in-depth product knowledge and good customer service.

Tabletop Games Ltd. was formed in mid-2004 when they bought the very well established “Tabletop Games” brand. The business retained their large back catalogue of publications, and historical figure ranges and has recently added many more new products. Tabletop Games Ltd. also launched a distribution service in 2004 and began wholesaling wargames products to retailers (online and bricks & mortar) around the UK and Europe.

Tabletop Games Ltd. represents many of their ranges at shows around the UK.

Why merge the Companies?

The partners of Gamers Quest had found that the business, which had grown steadily over two years of trading, had outgrown their premises and their free time which was under pressure from work and family commitments. Jean Rolfe, a partner in Gamers Quest will continue to work for the business on a part-time basis and Darren Rolfe, the other partner in the business, will be having a well-earned rest!

Jean & Darren both felt that the business should continue to develop as part of a larger organisation and, for them, Tabletop Games Ltd. was the logical choice as they had known Dave Polhill, the Managing Director, for several years.

During the first week of January 2006, Tabletop Games Ltd. moved into much larger warehouse premises in order to hold the stock of both companies.

What does this mean – for consumers?

There has been some unfortunate, but unavoidable, disruption to both companies during the transition period and the subsequent relocation to new premises. Hopefully everything should be back to normal by mid-January 2006 but in the meantime, if you have any concerns or queries about the status of your orders then please contact Dave Polhill at dave@tabletopgames.com who will be able to update you.

Customers of Gamers Quest will be pleased to know that all the ranges currently stocked will be retained and that the new warehouse facilities and full-time staff will mean orders can be processed more quickly than ever before. Some products listed on the website will have their prices brought in line with Tabletop Games Ltd. to ensure consistency between the companies and this will happen over the next few weeks. We will shortly be removing both handling fees and PayPal surcharges from the site and customers in the UK and overseas should see reductions in their postage costs due to the increased buying power of Tabletop Games Ltd.

Customers of Tabletop Games Ltd. will now have a much wider choice available to them as all of the Gamers Quest products are added to their catalogue. The influx of these extra products has unfortunately caused further delays to their already very overdue ecommerce website (www.tabletopgames.com) which will hopefully now be available from February 2006.

Customer service is also available by calling +44 (0) 1635 578 667.

What does this mean – for resellers?

The GQ Distribution service will close and the products they previously had available for wholesale should become available via Tabletop Game’s own distribution service. Resellers (stores, websites and show traders) should contact Dave Polhill (dave@tabletopgames.com) for details of opening an account.
