Hi folks.
Starting a new thread to document my ramblings since I returned to miniatures this year. I have a couple old threads here but they are no longer close to relevant, being from around 2007. I have posted some of these to other boards, and in the interest of getting a wider critique, I am posting them on here too.
I have several projects on the go currently, so there will be lots of pictures in this initial post.
First up, progress on my conversion of the Reaper Bones Minotaur:
Still a little to do on his weapon, and I am thinking of adding a cloth to his shield, but other than that he is pretty much done. I lengthened his torso at least a quarter inch. Then re-sculpted pretty much all of it. Then his head was put on top of his torso and the neck sculpted to add it into the torso. The sword blade was made from plasticard.
Everything white (except the sword) is the original Bones miniature. Green parts are Kneadatite, grey parts are ProCreate. Lots left to do, but I am very happy with him so far.
Original figure for reference.
Next up is the WHFB Ogre conversion that I am working on:
Intended as an homage to Hrothyogg, the Ogre Captain. There have been a few people posting painting threads with this guy and I got a bit nostalgic. Since I no longer have mine, I thought I would convert him and update him a little more inline with the current Ogre style. And hopefully have him be recognizably based on the old Jes Goodwin Ogre from 1989.
Next, a character that I intend to use in an A Song of Ice and Fire version of Mordheim:
One of the Kingdom of Avalon starter set figures from Alchemy. I intend to use him as the leader of a band serving Ser Gregor Clegane. I am converting his weapon to be a large mace, and removing any icons, but other than that I intend to use him untouched.
Still very early WIP. Basically the Yellow is the only thing that isn't just basecoat right now.
I've done a bit more on this fellow, but I haven't had a chance to take pictures yet.
Mantic Enforcer proof of concept:
I really love the design of these figures but when I got mine in hand, there were a few things that bugged me about them. First is the knees, but that I will be sorting out with putty as I go. Next was the lack of kit. I understand they are super soldier types and all, but the thinness of the mini and the lack of any equipment outside their weapons puts me off a bit. So, I dug out some GW bits and placed them just to get an idea how it might look with more equipment. I love it so far. I may change one or two of the bits around the waist, but I think other than that, this is how my Enforcers will be modelled.
Lastly for now, a WIP sculpt of the Marvel Comics character Hyperion:
He is sculpted in URO (orange stuff), Procreate (grey stuff), and Aves Fixit Sculpt (white stuff). I still need to do his face and hands. I'm still getting the hang of those so I am moving a bit slow with them.
I appreciate any and all comments, questions and criticism.
Thank you all for looking.
