Stripping minis

Okay so I have made a couple of mistakes on minis and need to strip them safely. Normally i would paint over but this is making the detail dissappear. So my question is this, I've seen some of you use simple green to strip minis safely, what is the best UK equivelant?

Your help is muchly appreciated

I use Fairy power spray, mix about 75/25 spray to water and soak for 24 hours (or longer) then scrub with a toothbrush, tends to work quite well and doesn't damage the mini or the glue.

Try oven cleaner. Thats what I use. Put the mini in a bag and spary in the oven cleaner, let set a few hours and then give it a scrub with a tooth brush

Fairy power spray for me too. I've got a glass jar, I pop the mini (or mini's) in, squirt with powerspray so that the foam covers the mini and then put the lid on and leave for a while (anything from 4 or 5 hours to a few days depending upon what time I've got). Then toothbrush and running water does the trick. It's quite important to make the container airtight else I've found the paint goes sloppy. If you make the container airtight the paint should peel off like latex.

Interesting thread, thought i'd chime in with my experience: Dettol.

The brown liquid variant, you can buy it in boots, chemists, etc. Just leave them to soak for a day or so and scrub with a toothbrush. Works for plastic and metal minis.

hmmm think i've got some of that somewhere, think i will try a few things and see whats best, might stay away from the ovencleaner though (i dont even use that stuff on the oven )

Dettol is pretty good but beware, it does bugger up greenstuff and also makes the paint go all sticky and gloopy. When getting the dettol off, put fairy liquid (normal, not the power spray) on it first and use a cheap crappy toothbrush

Wasn't aware of its detrimental effect on green stuff, good shout. And yeah you're right, it does tend to make the paint gloopy.

Heck, I may even try the power spray myself next time.

Yup spent two years (on and off) modding a gduk fig. Didn't like the paint, so I stripped him. Putty went to buggery. Nearly cried
