Som colours are very difficult. Usually I glaze over with different mixes and colours to smooth them out between highlight layers. White is notoriously difficult, in that case I usually shade down instead of highlight up so I won\'t build to many layers of paint. But with a streaky finish more layers is the usual way to go.. if you keep them thin there is no problem to apply lots and lots of layers on one surface in quick layers with not much paint on the brush. Usually I work quicker with more intermediary glaze layers though.

Drop a few bucks on a brand new brush and see if that makes a difference. My old brushes used to streak when they were getting near the end of their life.

Could also be due to over-dilution of paint. This causes the pigment to separate from its binder, giving you that chalky finish.

I\'d say reduce your dilution factor as well as get some solid, dependable brushes.

I think most people find a thinness that works for them myself I use 2 or 3 drops of thiner enough so when you spread some on the pallet its see through.
Best thing is to try from raw paint then add your thiner bit by bit till you are happy with result (remember to note down final ratio, cus we are not gettin any younger and the memory is the first to go) now what where we talking about:D
