Hi guys im new here so I wanted to say hello.
I started collecting and painting a dwarf army about two years ago but didnt get too far yet since my daughter was born.

Now she is about a year old and I have some time for myself again so I reopened my treasure chest.

So now here is my first question whats the difference between static grass and the regular stuff ?

Thanks for your help

welcome dude, static grass is this stuff:

looks like this when applied:

basically is fine strands with a static charge that allows it to stand up like real grass. good stuff but don\'t buy it from gw, it\'s more expensive than anywhere else

I bought mine from woodland scenery- same price as the GW brand, but over 5x the amount.

only downside is it is a single color, not a nice blend.

What other grass are you talking about? If you mean Flock, that\'s an entirely different beast than modeling grass. It\'s often used to represent grass.

Or are you talking about the packs of \'grass\' that are full of colored strands, about 2\" long?

For anything remotely display-oriented static grass should always be painted anyway so no real problem.

If you just use it for the bases of gaming figs I wouldn\'t have thought the single colour would make that much of a difference.

Regular grass goes on an actual lawn and static grass goes on your minis. Although I ave found that static grass does not really live up to its name. Every time I put static grass on my minis it does not stand up. It just bunches. If you want grass that actually sticks up I would recommend buying the long grass strands that you can find at hobby shops, clump them together and glue the ends, and then trim it at the level that you want the height of the grass to be.

Hope this makes sense.
