Starting VMC

Hi all

I\'m looking to expand on my paints stock. In the past, I\'ve mainly used GW\'s paints, since Coat D\'Arms was their manufacturer, so the majority of my paints are GW. I do ok with them, and I have no real complaints other than the really lousy pots, and expense.

Awhile ago, I picked up a couple of Vallejo\'s Game Color paints. I see a subtle difference between GW\'s and VGC, and I much prefer the droppers. But I\'m reading more and more that Vallejo Model colors are very good to work with as well. (maybe better than VGC?)

So here\'s my questions:

a) I paint minis mainly to play with, though occasionally I do display minis as well. Are VMC\'s good to use for gaming minis, or should I stick to VGC?

b) If I do go with VMC, the color choices are overwhelming. I\'d love to hear some color suggestions from the VMC range for a starter pallette, including mediums (if any) and suggestions for expanding this pallette later on.

c) Lastely, I\'m from New York City; anyone know of a retailer that sells VMC? I know of only one shop in manhattan, and they only sell the VGC line.

Thanks much for any suggestions,

Vallejo Model Colors are not as durable(they rub off/chip more easily) as the Game Color range, so I would stick with the VGC(or citadel) for gaming pieces.

I have a stupid amount of VMCs (which I use primarily) so I can\'t come up with my favorites at the moment.

I\'m finding that my most used colors tend to depend on what I\'m working on at the moment...

But I have started to notice that there are a few that I use no matter what the project. I\'m hoping some of the more seasoned Vallejo vets here might have some suggestions.
