Spider-Man vs. The Sandman diorama

I\'m hoping to get a few comments on my recent submission. There has been quite a few looks at it but only a few votes. It\'s my most ambitious piece of work to date and I hope to do a few more like it. So I\'d love to hear a few thoughts. Hype it or snipe it.

go spidey! very nice.........are they 28mm? the street scene fits very well with the comic book style. i thinkyou are on to a winner there, but i\'m not sure what kind of reception it would get here on CMON, you\'d get a strong 8 from me!

Wow, that sand is really gravel-y, and spidey is really dynamic! Are those the dreaded prepainted Heroclix or custom made? Great dio work! :p

The Spider-Man is a repainted Hero Clix. The Sandman is an amalgamation of a couple of them. I have a few WIP shots of it on my site if your interested. Thank you for the kind words!

proper link to the pic...

Meanwhile.....

.....in another frame, down the street.

old woman: are you gonna pay that bill or not?

old mad:  if you want to put it in the mailbox be my guest!

great. but i feel at least a little webbing should be shooting from spidey\'s hand just to start the process of him going higher or something.
as the hand is in that position.

lacking that i gave it a 9.

Yeah you\'re right. I just couldn\'t come up with a cool way to simulate the webbing realistically, at the time. I have another Spidey diorama in mind where there will be webbing everywhere. I\'ll probably try some thin thread and white glue or something.

Thanks for the love guys!

with how you did the green stuf for the sandman couldnt you make the web like that.

just have a stream starting from spidey\'s wrist, and a small bit of web pattern showing/forming at the end to simulate he has JUST started shooting it in attempt to escape or SOMEHOW incapacitate sandman.

just a thunk for ya.

That reminds me of the afternoons I spent faithfully watching the Spidey cartoon! Good stuff! Can you come up with a vs the Rhino or Lizardman?

Very cool! I gave it a 9, definitely a \"10\" if you can figure out a web of some kind. Sorry, no helpful suggestions tho\'!

Rhino is my second favourite Spidey villain but unfortunetly the Hero Clix Rhino is mechanical or something. Definetly not the cool original. With any luck they\'ll have a good one in the next set of Clix. I have the Lizardman Clix and it\'s actually quite good. I think there is a good chance you\'ll see a Diorama with him in it.

And once again a big thank you for the kind words from everyone. I have my next project already in the works.

Very nice, caputures the comic feel. I agree that some webs shooting out from spidy would be cool. Would some fishing line hardened with glue do the trick? Voted it a nine.

This is wonderful. You\'ve really captured the essense of the Sandman. The colors are very bright and comic booky also.

Before I started working on the PAINTAID thingy, I had been working on painting up the HULK.

It got me thinking about what other superheros I could do. I\'m not too impressed with the size or sculpt on many of the HeroClix and was thinking about converting models to fit.

It is definately a welcome change of pace after doing so many sword and sorcery things.

Great job.
