First nmm mini ever need to work on highlighting and blending but for a first attempt think it worked out well. Axe is more gray than metal looking but I did not want to bugger it up this one was the 3rd go :).

I really hate it when people try things for the first time and do really well :p You talented bastards! :flame: lol

Looks really good!! :D
Any larger pics though?
I see what you\'re saying about the grey of the axe, but maybe you could get away by saying it\'s slightly oxidised or something.

The gold areas look really good though - I find those a lot harder than normal greyscale steels though, so it\'s a little odd to me that you did better with that :D

Overall at the moment I\'d say it\'s a 7.5 - a decent base and some larger pics and I\'d give it an 8.5 :D

Nick the gold was done using snakebite leather then highlighted up to vomit brown then highlighted with bleached bone. Shaded using chaos black and terracotta.

The axe was codex gray highlighted with fortress gray and space wolves gray shaded with chaos black.

Spiffing!

Silvery/steel NMM always benefits from some hints of other colours in it - dark greens, browns or reds - just a snifter in the darkest areas. A bit of green would work here I reckon...

I hate to be the bastard here.... I have to say that I think this mini is really well painted, with some smooth transition and a excellent coise of colors, but I don\'t think the NMM is convincing. It looks very well blended and with the general idear. But to me it look more like a well executed brown/bonish and grey. I think it looks great but not like metal.
How to improve I\'m not sure as I can\'t figure out NMM my self - maybe more contrast will do the trick.

For the skin bronzed flesh washed with flesh wash then elf flesh (in very thin coats leaving the washed bronzed flesh for the shadows) highlighted with white.

thanks.

another great mini.

when are you going to stop selling them and actually build up a collection?

i think you should think about entering golden demon. you would defendantly get through the first cut.
great work. keep it up.

I don\'t play games anymore and have to much crap in the house as it is so I take pics of each mini then sell them that way someone gets to enjoy playing with my minis and I do not end up will 100\'s of miniatures all over the house like I had when I stopped painting.

I always got the most enjoyment from painting ,selling miniatures to people in the model shop I worked in as a kid and its even better now as I can end up having miniatures I painted on table tops or shelves all over the world not just Belfast :).

Overall a nice colour scheme and well executed. I painted these in Nov and they were good fun. I must admit your scheme for the shield turned out better than mine.

On the NMM some extra contrast would help...especially on the steel. The top highlight should nearly always be pure white to represent the reflection of the light source. The darkest colour depends on the feel that you want for the metal. I think just going for black would be a bit boring and actually probably too dark. I use Charadon Granite for the darkest colour on my steel NMM. I find it gives a \"heavy \" feel to the steel. Great for Marines.

The axe of the figure could probably benefit from some extra colour... the handle is sculpted to look like leather binding so you could paint that as such. There is nothing wrong with a totally metal weapon I just think it looks a bit plain.

Keep experimenting and you will find the best combination of colours for your taste
