Space Marine armour evolution...

Just wondering if there\'s anywhere where i can actually see all the SM armour variants. Well, close to, seeing as i recall Thundersuits (MkI) weren\'t vacuum-proof and were quickly dropped.
I\'ve heard them all mentioned, but rarely if ever linked to examples...

Incidentally, i heard someone suggest that the helmets in the current SM Tac squad set corresponded to various armour variants. Aside from the fact that they\'re all worn with the same (or very close) armour variant, is there any truth in that? I mean, there are 4 variants as far as i can see (not including modified ones), but i only remember the beaky one (my anal-retentive mind says MkIV, Corvus...) being in any previous armour variants...

Oh, not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things, just wondering...

I have some, look HERE

From left to right, top to bottom, MK1, MK1, MK2, MK3, MK4, MK5. Actually 2 and 3 might be the other way round... Anyway there you go different armour marks.

Yes, mks 1-5 were pre heresy. 6 was the current mk during the heresy (it actually came about because of the heresy, it represents an unplanned midpoint between 5 and 7, in particular the riveted shoulder pad on mk6 was a result of a lack of resources). Some Mk7 suits were available during the heresy.

As usual with GW there are a number of contradictions in the fluff and what I\'ve said above is based on the older fluff as I\'m less \'up\' on the more recent stuff.

The last one in there, the MK5, is also known as \"Heresy Armor\" because of its mass use durring the heresy. The MK6 and 7 are the more common armors that you saw in 3rd edition. MK8 is the more personalized sets that you saw with the neck guards on them.
The new Black Templars models use a mix of each of the armors due to a religous re-use of armors as holy icons of battle, and done to good effect I might add. Not really important, but I thought I\'d throw it in there.
