For starters I decided we\'d seen enough ork 40k Stuff being build around here. I decided to work on something fantasy to see if we could spark that around here for a bit maybe.

I decided terrain would be nice, and free since I didn\'t really have to buy anything to do it. So I jumped on WAR, and took a couple of screenshots of the Orc Keep in Marshes of Madness.

After measuring the bases and using the basic math that in-game 2 Black Orcs just about block the front door, (or rather block it enough so that players can\'t get through, even though there\'s a little open space here and there) I decided what the scale I needed was, then held the ruler up to my screen to figure out how wide it everything was.

Soon after I started construction.

I wanted to make sure that I could fit one of the bigger models on a standard base in the doorway, so Pictured you have the Grumlock and Gazbad figure from the collector\'s edition and an old orc I had left over from a mordheim warband (Poor guys both lost an arm durring the 6 years I took a break from wargaming. Somehow I think they did well living in a bin with all my Fiancee\'s anime figures for so long)

I\'ve started construction on the rest of the first floor and it measures 20\" x 10\", it just isn\'t much to look at so, no pics yet. I made sure it had a few bends and bows in it to keep it from being square as to make it a bit more orcy. I may get some pics up later.

Can\'t wait to see how that comes out. I have taken that keep many times! I have also been taking screen shots of the random NPC\'s and characters for some conversion ideas. :)

Yeah I play a black orc on Vortex myself. His name is Skabaz Hamtoucha. (If you don\'t get the ham toucher thing, I suggest you spend a bit more time around Zealots while they get crit-ed.)

Anywho, taken it many times, and defended it almost solo many times. Such is life. :p

Some alterations had to be made there. I tried cutting out about a dozen or so \"U\" shaped pieces of wood for the bottom section, but it didn\'t look all that great so I scrapped it all.

As for materials used cardboard bound together with packaging tape (and later a little elmers\' wood glue for a more permanent bond) All of the exterior is cut out portions of 2 different thicknesses of HIS (High impact styrene) which I think is pretty much that plastic card that everyone uses for mods and whatnot. And the most important secret ingredient is tinfoil to keep glue off the counter because I don\'t want the wifey to kill me.

I think I\'m going to take a break for the night because I\'m pretty tired of carving out the \"Splintering\" on all the pieces of wood. If I wasn\'t such a stickler for detail, this thing could be just about done.

Tomorrow, I think I\'ll probably finish the top 3rd of the front and maybe start on one of the sides. Wifey has company coming into town so I don\'t want to try cutting any MDF for the base, or working with any of the insulation foam to build up the dirt mounds at the base of the towers.

Great stuff! The splintering looks like it\'s going to be a lot of hard work. Hope to see more updates. =)

It sure looks great. It does seem like it\'s gonna be a lot of hard work. Also, it seems like it is going to take up too much space. I would have where to keep it...

I would make it so that you can detach the sides. That way I would be easier to store/transport.

But, it is just an idea, you are the expert here. :D
