So what's going on?

This forum seems pretty dead. Anyone out there? Another forum I am missing? The WoK front seems pretty dead after release.

It seems that most folks are using the FB page to discuss things. We have talked about trying to revive the forum but obviously it hasn't happened yet.

I do wish that the normal website was a bit better.

Now that the game is fully released each army could have detailed descriptions of the different boxes/units you can buy with some studio pictures of the models. Currently it is just the whole army broadly described with a few disjointed pictures of models before the full release (did you see those Zeti War Dancers?).

Having to google around for fan-made stuff is ok for a while but I want to see those beautiful minis I saw at 2015 NoVA. After coming from other games I like being able to log onto the game's website and see all their products broken down with cool pictures to get me hyped and interested in another force. Scrolling though a long PDF (which has zero model shots) for details about an army is alright when the game is young but we are expecting a bit more polish now. As an example, I was interested in the Ravenscar Mercs but there is nothing about them on my Goritisi page, I had to see an old news update to see a small picture of the box. I feel the website should be doing more for the community than this.

Imagine trying to convince a fellow tabletop gamer to play this game. They log onto the website and are not really looking at anything when there is so much competition now. The news page has no updates since Sept 15th. I want this game to do well, I think an updated website will help it quite a bit.

I have to fully agree with WhiteOutMouse here. I picked up the game at GENCON as an impulse buy when I saw the amazing figures on display and ran through a demo game. I figured it would be a quick sell with the gaming group back home. Sadly trying to steer folks to the website wasn't very productive. I can't come close to the paint jobs I saw at GENCON so my stuff isn't really going to draw people in.

I'm happy to see info on Wave 2 but it should be a lot more readily available. Folks should be asking for more WoK armies for Christmas so they can get ready for wave 2!

Both WoK and Dark Age are awesome games. I am very interested in expanding the gaming community, which in my area is tough enough without having a bad website and lackluster news info.

CMON, promote the game! Push out articles on hobby, tactica, each unit, etc!

I'd be happy to contribute!

Having it on Facebook is terrible. I won't go simply because I won't have anything to do with Facebook. It's a Shame not to be able to get updates and have discussions on the official website.

I support the facebook as a platform for WoK. Their page has lots of posts that are fitting for the social media element that many people embrace. It's cool to see fan armies and paint jobs as well as the cross promotions or local highlights.

But not having a updated main website is silly and makes it hard for players to have a strong foundation for the game.

As Acebaur said, it seems most people prefer to utilize the Wrath of Kings facebook group for discussion:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/wrathofkings/

The whrathofkings.com's last news update was on Sept 18th, and it was the same content that was posted on facebook two days earlier, Sept 16th.

Since then there were three more major updates with models, cards and artwork that were exclusive to facebook.

It feels like it's the marketing team who really prefers facebook. The fans are just going where they have to.

Hmmm... I tried clicking on the link and got a "The page you requested cannot be displayed right now. It may be temporarily unavailable, the link you clicked on may have expired, or you may not have permission to view this page."

As someone who doesn't have a facebook account and never will it is a little disappointing that most of the community activity seems to be gated behind facebook's walls. Reading discussions and being part of a community is part of what keeps my interest in a game up, and outside of the facebook group (which others claim is an active community), the game appears basically to be dead and have no community to me. I know it is my decision to not join facebook, but its not something Im willing to do and just means Im more likely to lose interest (already waning) in this game and move on to something else.

So join facebook with your username here and only use it for WoK like you would any other forum. You aren't required to put a real picture of yourself or even use your real name on Facebook. I honestly don't see what the big deal is.

Fact of life is social media is the norm. Refusing to have anything to do with Facebook is basically death gripping your cassette tapes when CD's became the norm. I understand (well, not really) your stance, but understand that social media exposes a wider audience for a company and its hundreds of times less maintenance, so it's going to be where companies turn to mostly

I see your points and I agree with most of them. I plan on posting some of my painted models on a display board I am building, facebook is great for smaller companies and for community messages and promotion. But, if you are implying that the company should only invest in their facebook then we disagree. It is flawed logic to assume that it is the prefered medium of communication when it is the only one.

But I am probably nitpicking an angle that you were not getting at. I can't imagine a person who would not want the main page to be upgraded.

I really just want to see the WrathofKings.com page to have better galleries of model photos and descriptions of the units for each force. I was a player of GamesWorkshop games for a long time, and after seeing their website go though a few changes I have grown accustomed to seeing the fully broken down range of miniatures with great large resolution pictures (even 360 view). The army and model pictures on WoK's site are outclassed.

I understand the limitation of comparing a flagship product for a larger company versus one small branch of a smaller company but I would like to see my new favorite game grow and to learn. I am not the typical internet rager who can only complain and blows everything out of proportion. I want to be constructive and positive.

Speaking of positive, the main page got a repost of the recent facebook update! Good to see, it could be a coincidence but I like to think they are seeing all these forum topics have most of their recent activity and are working on their site! Good things are coming!

You can't possibly compare GW who has been around for 30+ years and is an absolute juggernaut of a company to CMON. It's just not even a comparison. GW probably has as many people in it's web department as CMON has for the whole company.

Everyone has to remember too, that the community is participating heavily in social media compared to this website or the main page. So CMON is putting things where it will get the most exposure.

I agree, GW is a much bigger company and to compare them directly is foolish. I was just showing my reaction as a customer who was accustomed to that level of output. It is like a culture shock, in more ways than one.

I can't expect these things overnight and probably not in the same scope, but I want to let them know that I would appreciate them and I think it would do a lot of good for reasons explained earlier (better for ex-GW guys like me, better for recruiting friends etc).

There are also very nice things about the culture shock, like these forums! GW did not have any sort of thing. I think there was a GW facebook for a while until they pulled it down, I think. CMON has embraced the customer and community and that's awesome! I don't expect (or want) CMON to be GW, but there were some things that were very nice about GW and are probably what helped them become the large business they are today. I would be happy to see CMON have some of the better amenities not only for myself but for the health of the game as well.

Everyone has to remember too, that the community is participating heavily in social media compared to this website or the main page. So CMON is putting things where it will get the most exposure.
I feel like if the main page got more updates that there would be traffic here too, which would bleed into the forums for some discussion and a bit of community. As of a few days ago, there were zero updates on the main page so much less traffic and less of a community as a result.

I agree that the facebook is great for the community and general communication element (and in the long run will always see more traffic), but a strong foundation (like the FAQ thread) are also great for the health of the game.

For anyone at CMON reading this, these complaints could be addressed by adopting a COPE (Create Once, Publish Everywhere) model for press releases.

You're using Wordpress for the WoK website. That's where you should create your press releases once. You can then use some Wordpress plugins to publish everywhere (e.g. Facebook and Twitter). A quick search brought me to these:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/facebook-auto-publish/
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-to-twitter/

You'll have centralized/synchronised news, and a social media presence. It still won't stop people from posting on the FB group instead of these forums, but there's nothing you can do about that short of removing the group (which would likely just piss people off rather than have them come here).
