Just ordered:
Shanys, the Shadow;
Executioners;
Thallions w. swords;
err... Fusitilers or something (shooters).
+box of Vallejio paints(it\'s offtopic)
Does it look like an army(I mean composition vise) ? Roughly how many points ?
And to French speakers(readers):
Could someone give me translation of Shanys card?
???
Best regards, Me

a translation into german could be given by me... for an english translation i would have to ask my brain to work, but as it is 3:49am here, it will not respond.

the army needs spearmen, if you ask me... and the most brilliant mini in the army - sered, the templar commander... and - ohg yeah - mira of course... but these two not for gaming. i would buy the standard bearer, the musician and abel the choleric to be able to field an command section.

templars of the inquisition are nice too... you need soem buff boys, able to hold in close combat.
spearmen and the templars are perfect for this.

Nothin but a thang:
\"You do not have a place among the living any more.\"
Equipment: Dagger of Sanction - leather armor
Competences: Fanaticism - Deulist - Assassin - Bravery - Conscience

Artifact: the Blade of Damnés
Affiliated to the embassy of Akkylannie of Cadwallon, Shanys is the last argument of the Griffons when the negotiations are impossible. It is claimed that the dagger that she carries to achieve her macabre task would imprison the hearts of all damned which it removed their life...
At the beginning of each turn of play, Shanys can choose one and only one of the three capacities below.

* Caress Cut: until the end of the turn, STUNNED inflicted by Shanys in hand to hand are regarded as Light Wounds.

* Elixir of the Quick-Silver: at the time of each one of her Initiative Rolls and this until the end of the turn, Shanys will launch an additional die and will retain the result which is appropriate to her.

* Ultimate Sentence: a combatant who boxed a Wound on behalf of Shanys in hand to hand loses 1 point of RES at the end of each turn of play. As soon as the cumulated penalty reaches a level higher than its value of RES such as it is registered on its chart of references, the victim IS KILLED OUTRIGHT.

The Blade of Damned is reserved for Shanys. P.A. 16

Hope you bought the English version of the troops. it\'ll save you the time of buying them seperatly! :p

Well, Shanys + a couple of Executioners + a couple of Fusiliers + Thallions should easily get you to a little bring you to 200pts.

Let\'s look:

3 Fusiliers = 3x19= 57 pts
2 Thallions = 2x28 = 58pts (115pts)
2 Executioners = 2x20 = 40pts (155pts)
Shanys = 88pts/104pts (with artifact)

For a total of 243 pts/259pts (with artifact)

So what\'s nice stuff to add to get to 300pts?

Take your pick:
- Magistrat du Griffon (warrior-priest which works very well with Thallions and has a very cool miracle for the shooty dudes)
- Templars (3 figs/blister at 22pts each; nice troops with War Fury and good armor)
- Inquisitor (warrior-mage with some nice spells)
- Chasseur des Tenebres/Darkness Hunter (?) (warrior-mage with some nice spells too)
- Spearmen (3 per blister at 13pts each; nice figs, good \'cannon fodder\' ;))
- Mira (very nice fig @ 70pts, very nice artifact, and cool adventures to play Incarnation)

Remember, for Confrontation it does not have to look as an \'army\', it can be a nice mix of troops to be versatile (and it certainly looks pretty versatile with your assassins, shooty dudes and Thallions; maybe some \'normal Close Combat dudes\' like Templars/Spearmen could make it even more nicer).

Your initial order is pretty well chosen! :)

Ok, for a regular game we play minimum 300 pts, but usually 500 pts. Point values on the cards are for a single figure. What you have so far:

Shanys the Shadow, (104 pts w/equipment)

Executioners, (20 pts each)
Thallions - all come with swords and pistols (28 pts ea.).

Fusitilers/Musketeers (19 pts ea.)

Assuming 1 blister of each, you have: 257 pts.

Basically your army is all shooty and scout/assassins, you need some grunts and a good commander.

A good commander: Sered (179-234 pts approx.) or Arkhos (125 pts et al.). these guys are both Templar Commanders and have good bonuses if you take Templars with them.

Grunts, good troops: here I agree with Cenobyte, Spearmen (13pts ea.) and Templars (22 pts ea.) are a must.

To survive against Fear causing enemies like Wolfen and Undead you will need a Icon Bearer (16 pts) and Musician (15 pts).

Take a good spell caster if you can, Sered is good for that, but I also like to take Melkion the Flaming (131-253 pts.)

Darkness Hunters are also cool, fighters with spells. (34-50 pts ea.)

Well hopely that helps. Good Luck, Griffons Rule!
lol

Thanks!

But I wanna keep some theme in my \"army\" - for example, what Templar Comander & Icon Bearer gonna do among the sneaky-\"assy\" troops ? OTOH, I think Darkness Hunters will fit well.

And as far as I can see - in most of the games it\'s better to have army that can do some things very good and suck in others. Those who can do everything- can\'t do anything good.
I\'m not sure if it\'s true for confrontation.
:innocent:

With my limited experience, I\'d say you\'re right in trying to give your army a theme and capitalize on its strengths. Having said that, the advice of keeping magic and faith away for at least the few first games looks like a sound one to me. I can tell you the basic rules are not difficult to understand, but they are complicated to master. Having to worry about wizards and monks from the beggining will undoubtedly distract your attention...

Yes...
That\'s what I was thinking about.
Could someone tell me specializations of the Griffon units(short description)?
Because was choosing minis only with \"like it visually or I don\'t like it \" rating and common sense.

No body expects the Akkalanian Inquisiton! Get the Comfy Chair!! :p

Well, Monty Python jokes aside, here\'s what I know:

Shanys, the Shadow - Assassin Champion, good at hiding and charging.
Executioners- Assassins, see Shanys
Thallions w. swords- Scouts, short ranged shooters
Mustketeers- Long ranged shooters, suck at Hand to hand

All in all, it\'s well rounded for a small army, but you might want to buy some Command figures. (You\'ll need it against Mid-Nor and undead, TRUST ME!) :p

I don\'t know if you can read french or not, but you can find a Griffin strategie guide here

basically it says: griffins are nicely armoured and great shooters, Templars with warrior fury and an assassin can quickly dispose of enemies, while shooters keep trying to put holes in enemies. Also, Griffin magic is based on doing damage, they\'re not bad at that either

Okay, I\'ll try to make a quick list here ;)

- Griffon Spearmen/Lancier : your standard troop; some might consider them \'cannon fodder\' or \'close combat fodder\', because they are pretty cheap
- Griffon Conscripts : like the Spearmen, but a bit more versatile; still cheap and quite expendable
- Abel/Standard Bearer/Musician : good for boosting a bit of discipline and courage of your basic troops
- Fusiliers : the ultimate shooty dudes, and if necessary, don\'t be afraid to throw them into the melee; they have a low INI but with FOR 6 they can do a lot of damage.... Great troops that every Griffon must have!
- Saphon : the Fusilier commander/warrior monk.... If you are jealous of the Alahan\'s \'holy weapons\', just use this guy\'s \'holy bullet\'....
- Duelists : I call them the \'troops to drive your opponents insane\' because of their Ambidextrous ability; they will always try to go in full defend mode (which annoys the opponent) and stab back thanks to their ability :D
- Executioners/Shanys/THE Executioner: well, they\'re assassins which means strike first and hard; these are great troops that inspire fear in the opponent (that\'s \'normal\' fear, not \'Confrontation Fear\') because they are so dangerous...
- Griffin Templars : the harder versions of the Spearman/Conscripts; the Furie Guerriere (War Fury) can be seriously nasty, and they\'re well armoured too...
- Templars of the Inquisition : harder, more courageous, more armoured version of the \'normal Templar\', but they\'re more expensive too... They can only be used when you have an Inquisitor on the table...
- Thallions : they\'re scouts (eclaireurs), they are well armoured and they shoot. What more do you need?
- Griffon Magistrate : I call him the \'Thallion Commander\'. He\'s not as well armoured as them, but he is a Warrior Monk, and the Thallions have Feal/1, which means that every Thallion in the Magistrate\'s range provides 1 Foi Temporarie/Temporary Faith :D And the guy has this monstrous miracle which allows shooters to shoot at a particular target as if it was one range band closer (and yes, out-of-range becomes \'long range\' so suddenly those Thallions can shoot at 1 target far across the table...)
- Arkhos and Mira : both are Templar commanders (and brother and sister), so they are pretty well warmoured. Mira can shoot too (just in case you want a Fusiler/Tahllion/Magistrate army and need a personality)
- Sered : another Templar commander, but he\'s a Warrior-Monk too... And he\'s a Zealot, not a Devoted, so he needs 2 mini\'s per 1 Temporary Faith...
- Pretresse the Fer/Iron Priestess: the priest of the Griffons, with an exceptional artifact!
- Melkion/Cairn : the Griffon wizards who sling fire around.... If you go for Melkion, you can start annoying people with a Fire Elemental, like Tuubje has done many times :)
- Inquisitors : armoured warrior-wizards, who allow the \'heavy armoured\' Templars od the Inquisition to be fielded
- Darkness Hunters/Chasseurs des Tenebres : shooty warrior-wizards... They shoot, they cast spells, what more do you need?

I hope this list helps a bit ;)

VLRM, do I have to jump into the all extensive list of Wolfen on sden.org to make a doggy list for you? ;)

I have been studying Mid-Nor for a mate of mine (I explained the rules and we played his first game a couple of weeks ago) and them stitched-together-dwarves sure are appealing

Lol, I think that would be the first mid-nor player in antwerp then. I was thinking of collecting an army of them myself, because they sure look good (you can keep hitting them and still they stay around to fight back. lol )

Plus with those moissoneurs, you can come up with some pretty good tactics I think...:]
