So I want this lightweight Flying Polyp to fly horizontally rather than vertically...

The flying polyp is the new lightweight resin sculpt from RAFM.

It's not too obvious, but, if horizontal, the miniature has three eyes that can face upward, over its mouth. I'd like to mount it that way.

The figure is light, and I'm wondering how to mount this horizontally as if it's flying. I guess the base can be glued to something to make it look like it emerged from a portal or... not sure.

Any suggestions how to do this? I haven't based a figure sideways before!

fwiw, RAFM is holding a Cthulhu Miniatures KS. $115 CAD for 43 miniatures, or $2.60 per miniature USD.

I vote for something dangling from/emerging out of/getting sucked into that top-of-the-head mouth/fang thing. Tentacles, or some sort of gushing liquid or somewhat... Perhaps? It's a tricky question in this case.

Put a clear acrylic rod in the base. Insert donut shaped rare earth magnets in the mini and the base so that their polarity is opposite. The rod will keep the model in line with the base and the magnets will give the appearance it's floating.

Super cool idea. I've always wanted to try to create a model that was supported all around by upward and inward facing magnets, so it could truly float with zero connection to the base. That would be the coolest thing ever, a magnetically levitating mini....

Just a quick word of thanks for the ideas! Turns out the pins were hard to see, so no need to disguise them. The model's propped up on two pins made from cut paperclips. To avoid scratching, I repeatedly dipped the ends of the wires into glue to make a blunt tip.
