Looking at picking up some Windsor and Newton 7 series... then realised i don\'t know what the equivalent size of a GW standard brush is in order to work out what size brushes i\'m after. Can someone tell me what the equivalent is please?

I did see that, but i still have no idea on the relative size comparisons. Reckon i\'ll have to just try and take a good guess.

I haven\'t used a GW brush for years, but I would guess about a 0? Adetail brush about 00?

I\'ve no idea what the sizes of the GW brushes are, but you won\'t go wrong with getting a size 0 and 1 kolinsky sable. You could go smaller, with a 00, but with a good kolinsky it will be quite unnecessary.

From what I remember of it, I\'d guess that GW\'s starter brush is a 0.

Which range would be the best for mini painting? Series 33? Thanks :)

GW fine detail is bigger than a 0 I think, more like a 1. I\'m getting on fine with my kolinsky 0

IF u r going to buy a W&N get the 7 series, if I remember correctly they r specifically designed for detail work. I\'m the proud owner of several of these brushes and I\'m really satisfied with them!!

By the way if u r looking for the sizes a 0 (GW detail brush), 00( GW fine detail) and a 1 (GW standard brush) is all u need in IMHO!!

I don\'t know what the size equivalents are either (since I don\'t use GW brushes other than a couple of dry brushes), but if you are going to get 3 brushes, I suggest a #3/0, a #0, and a #2 all in the \"regular\" size, no the \"miniature\" size (which just means shorter bristles). The #2 will actually have a very, very good point.

Take along your GW brushes!
I\'d go for 00,0,1 if you like small brushes even 000. If you\'re on a budget 00,0.But i like small brushes so it all depends.

I bought a 2, 1, 0 and 00 from Rosemary & Co but really only use the 1 and 0 sizes mostly. The 2 is like a GW basecoat brush, 1 = standard, 0 = detail and 00 = fine detail. These a rough comparisons but being Kolinsky the points are much better defined so all can be used for detail.

I\'m one of those that doesn\'t use GW brushes, so no information on equivalent sizes.

For the most part, I use Isabey\'s 1 and 0 (they were on sale) regular brushes and they work perfectly for me. The points are amazingly sharp and they keep them quite well. I might look at picking up some W&N miniature brushes here in the near future, but I still don\'t think I would go smaller than a 0.
