Sisters of Battle Colour Confusion

Hi. This is my first post to CMON, and I hope someone out there can clear up my confusion!

I am relatively new to the Warhammer 40K universe, but I have recently picked up a few models and the witchhunter codex. Now my troubles began when the codex stated that the Order of Our Martyred Lady colours are: armour chaos black, robes blood red with a black lining, and weapons boltgun metal. On the box, and at a few websites I looked at, the colours are: armour chaos black, robes black with a red lining, and weapons have red casing.

I don\'t mean to appear anal about this, but does anyone know which is the correct (i.e., the \"standard\"--I know that, really, we can paint them any colours we want!!!) colour scheme?

Thanks for your help. :D

There isn\'t really any \"Correct\" colour scheme as GW\'s scheme are basically a Guideline, allowing a bit of \'Artistic license\'. If you follow the Codex definitions then you aren\'t wrong.

I painted a couple of Alternate colour schemes for the Painting Guide in White Dwarf and they work as well (UK issue 292). Blue Armour, White Robes and Bone Armour with Red Robes.

My own Sisters army uses a Bleached Bone Armour and Dark Red Robes, as I\'d put them together to represent a Lesser order \"The Order of the Marty\'s Relics\" and create some fluff for the army ready for a tournament. (I should have really concentrated on learning how to use them on the battle field first). :D

EDIT: I\'m very sorry! I\'ve just had it pointed out to me that this is your first post in the forums. Welcome, to what I hope will be your new (second) home. :D

Anything goes. Look at space marines!

Traditional colours are black, red and bone (as seems to be the case with so many GW armies at the moment!) but you try telling me that a bunch of girls together with guns and flamethrowers ain\'t gonna feel the need to paint their armour pink?? What do you think we are GW? Stupid?lol

Welcome to CMON, you don\'t have to be mad to post here, but it helps.

As far as \"official\" colour schemes go, then there are examples of the different Orders in the book, any of these is \"right\". But as suggested feel free to do what YOU want. :)

Hey thanks y\'all for the quick responses and the pleasent welcomes! And Trevor, do I have to be mad as hell, mad as a hatter, stark raving mad, or simply a madman to fit in around here? ;)

Heh, I\'m likely a little of all the above--relative to context, I suppose...

Anyway, I figure I\'ll go with the colour scheme in the codex as I like the red on the outside of the robes rather than as lining. Unfortunately, since I had already started one of the sisters before getting the codex, well, I guess she\'s in for a bit of stripping...tee-hee.

Again, thanks for cheery welcomes!

I\'m neither. I\'m just a freak. Ask my wife. Anyone crazy enought to sing Barry Manilow to his wife has got to be a freak.

Hate to be on topic here, but IIRC they changed their colors after the Third War for Armageddon to honor the dead from their Order. As you might\'ve guessed by now, the Sisters of Battle are big on martyrs :innocent:

Upon closer investigation they changed their livery to honor the dead who fought at Hive Tempestora. Damn I\'m good :D
