Sigvald The Magnificent WIP

hello everybody.
This is my new wip. It is the Sigvald mini. I have decided to paint a purple metallic armour with blue cape and cloth.
I am looking feedback on the general paint scheme, and if the layering on the cape and cloth is working out ok.
Enjoy the pics and leave me a comment.

That is a pretty unusual metallic colour. I'd say that yours looks too pinky, you have to shade the holes quite a lot to give a better contrast on it. Your layering on the cape and cloth is good but you need to blend more the highlights. I aslo suggest you to paint the shield a little bit darker than the rest of your mini and not pink and also to paint the ornaments in gold.
This is a very good sculpt so be sure to give it justice.

Always good to see some Slaanesh painting getting done. I'll be following this thread, maybe it can give me fresh ideas for my own (WIP) army :)
Can I suggest slightly larger pics though? It's a bit hard to really judge the miniature this way. Seems to look good though, from what I can tell ;)

yep its a pretty unusual purple-pink metallic colour, i like when people think outside the box! i do think you should shade it a bit more with a darker purple, but try to avoid black id say. you can also do some extreme highlights at the edges, vallejos "metal medium" is great for that. good start!

Hi Tin-Bucket, he looks nice & neat :good:

The cloak looks to be coming on okay, I'm not sure about the placement of the white highlight though. I have trouble with large areas like this myself :) I'd suggest being bold & putting far more of the mid blue on, Enchanted?, leaving the dark blue in the shady areas only. Shadow Grey & Space Wolf Grey can be useful stop off points for your layers before white too.

In particular, those three creases running down the middle of his back, meet & then it goes straight back to dark blue underneath them. The mid blue can join the three up at the bottom, all the way to the hem of the cloak. In the photo there's a strong shadow running to the right of the fold over, so you can use that as reference for where to paint the mid-blue to the right of it. Definitely be bold & try to save the white highlight for smaller spots.

The armour looks fun but I agree that a couple of dark purple glazes over him, followed by highlighting up through the silvers (Boltgun, Chainmail, Mithril), then glazing again, possibly with reds to bring out the pink tones. You've chosen a tricky path using real metals. I'd have been tempted to paint his armour space marine style :D Good man, embrace the challenge :applause:

I hate this mini but people seem to do great things with it.

Right then, you can carry on now!

Cheers, B.

thank you all for your comments.
The armour is just basecoated as is.. I am gonna add highlights and shades to it. The cape is where I was giving my attention at the moment. I want to finish with that and the skin so I can concentrate on the armour.
I want to give it an unusual look, but to retain that slaneesh feeling..
I have no metal medium to use. I mix the vallejo paints with mithril silver from the GW range in order to get the coloured metals. This is how I did this armour..

Here is an update on Sigvald..
I have washed the armour with VJ hexed lichen, and I have done progressive highlights with 3 tones of purpley-silver.. I am not sure if I need to further highlight or shade the armour..what do you guys think? I have tried to soften the transitions on the cloack and cloth as well.. plus I darkened the shield a bit to differentiate from the armour.. and I am still trying to get a grip with the aspects of photography..
Give me your comments..

Yes do but he's coming on great, the abdomen in particular is working really nicely. Same level of shading on that leading leg & particularly where seperate armour plates meet, eg. shin guard meeting boot. I see you've toned back the cloak too, ready for another shot eh? Keep up the good work :good:

Cheers, B.
