I was at my friends house and he has recently purchased WoW. He let me start a file and i played it for 15 minutes. I can see how people get addicted. I want to play it again already, so should i get it?

For:
Tons of fun
Doing my GCSEs next year so i wont be able to go out on weekdays anyway because by the time my HW is done itll be like 10 oclock lol so i can play it then
Sellin all my PS2 games so i wont have them to play.

Against:
I may get addicted:~( and spend my saturday nights in front of a computer screen instead of out with my mates.
It might impeed on my other hobbies (mini painting:), karate, and DJin:cool: )
Its so bloody nerdy:p

As plainly as this: DON\'T!

I have resisted it in like years now and I can see from all friends around me addicted to this \"crap-game\" that it\'s taking up too much time in their lives... time I don\'t have and want to give up.

resist WoW!

 I play

but I have a lot of will power and limit my play time to a couple hours a day. Truth be told I don\'t interact much with other people in the game, I solo most of the time.
I still get ticked off over the last time I was with a group and a mob was kicking the holy snot out of my Pally and people were screaming for me to resurrect them..... pardon.... I can\'t do cr*p in the middle of a fight. <end of vent>

also the cost is kind of high....$15.00 a month if I\'m spending that kind of money, I\'m going to play and get my moneys worth!!:cussing::D

Unlike most people, I would say go for it if you can resist playing too much.

I play WoW and still find plenty of time to do my multitude of other hobbies, hand out with my mates, raise my daughter, keep my wife happy, etc.

Just don\'t over do it, and remember that real life is exceptionally more important then any game.

As far as Hanging with mates, I have found WoW a great way to hang with Mates who have moved away. I hang out with a friend from Toronto more then my local friends because we both play online. For 8 years previous to this I hadn\'t even known if he was still alive up there.

Sry for double post but had a thought.

They have a $2 trial edition you can pick up pretty much everywhere, even 7-11 convenience stores around here.

That will let you try the game out for 14 days and you can decide for yourself if it\'s taking up too much of your time.

You\'re going to make up your own mind regardless of what we tell you, but for what it\'s worth...

NEVER PLAY WoW AGAIN!!!

It IS addicting, but think of this, \"When you\'re done playing what do you have to show for it?\"
What do you have at the end of the day that you didn\'t have before. Nothing. You\'ll feel empty and hollow later in life when you realize you could have been hiking a new trail or learning a new language.

I dont get how people got addicted to it. Probably because I never settled into a good guild because I was on the rebound from Star Wars Galaxies but I just put it down one day, walked away and let my account key run out. It had about as much gameplay as having my toenails pulled out by Nazi\'s.

It depends what sort of person you are really. If you\'re self disciplined enough then you should be ok, but if you\'re not, you\'ll just keep saying \'another 10 mins\' and before you know it you\'ll have wasted months of your life on a computer game. Which counts for nothing. Painting miniatures (in my opinion) is a much more fulfilling hobby and you have much more to show for it. With WoW you have a pixellated character. But this is just my opinion: I\'m sure lots of people could counter my points and say that miniature painting is completely pointless (which it is to some extent, as are lots of hobbies).

It\'s your choice really, but I would say its a bad time to start coming up to GCSEs. Just my two cents :)

Cheers,
Tom

How easy you get addicted by computer games?

Ask yourself how addictive other games were to you.
I got really fast addicted to some games (f.e. Morrowind, Oblivion, Neverwinter Nights etc.) and played them for hours and hours. When I could not play I thought about the game and surfed for mods, patches, forums etc.
The good thing was, I just played these games solo, so the game has an end and eventually I got bored of it. So it was always an easy detox... ;)

I heard, saw and red a lot about WoW and I also know some people who play it. For me it would be WAY to dangerous to start this game. I know I would get addicted and I would spend hours, days, weeks... only for this GAME.
I decided to go for minis, they could get really addictive, too, you know. lol

A friend of mine also plays WoW but it\'s no big deal to him. He has some Online-pals with which he plays regularly but not very often. It took him months to get to his level 60 character and he told me he knows people who managed this in some days...

So in this case I think it\'s OK, my pal plays WoW some hours a week just to get a bit relaxed an have some fun with his friends, so no big deal and no addiction.

Only you know how easy you get addicted by games and how easy you can withstand the temptation. So it\'s up to you...

Don\'t listen to them!

Oh go on... you know you want to! All the people who say \'no\' are just jealous they don\'t have it. Don\'t listen to them, after all, you\'re the one who knows what\'s good for you, right?

Besides, you can\'t get addicted to games, can you? It\'s not like a drug with a physical or checmical dependency... 100% safe, guaranteed! No-one ever died playing WoW did they? But they broke their legs playing footie, and broke their arms climbing mountains... And WoW is a fantastic contraceptive too - there\'s a strong correlation between WoW and celibacy, why do you think The Pope plays WoW?

Jackie Chan plays WoW too, that\'s where he got all his fancy moves from. WoW is what Osama bin Laden plays these days, instead of pick-up sticks. He\'s got a level-96 terrorist that really kicks boss-creature arse.

So ask yourself: What would Chuck Norris do?

lol lol lol lvl 96 terrorist.

I thought WoW was utter shite tbh. I do play FFXI though, thats just fun!
Hang out , socialise and have fun with your buds, make some new ones.
But know your limits 0.o

FFXI actually has a disclaimer before you play lol \"Exploring the world of vana\'diel is a thrilling experience. Please don\'t forget your work, school, friends, family or loved ones...\"

lol

i played wow for a while, it was fun starting out, i especially liked the crafting things (not that they were really worth anything to a new player) a couple of my mates played but they either tended to want to be horde races or would start on a different server and expect me to switch or star again... a LOT of the time they weren\'t even on and i was just grinding and doing quests, which got very boring by the time i got to lvl 40....

even when my mates were on we couldn\'t play together because they had much lower lvl characters and it would have been boring, or they had much higher lvl characters and i would die all the time..

i\'m a big fan of the elder scrolls series (and single player rpgs), so i tend to go it alone most of the time (in wow), i dont like ppl getting in the way or having to rely on someone (lol companions in morrowind mods just got in the way)...

the point is that with wow your mates have to be on when you are and be in a similar circumstance for it to be much fun and for you to get things done in the game. and good xp

in the end i just gave up on the game, i was spending hours on it and not even enjoying it at all, it is such a frustrating game
