sculpting weapons for mini\'s

Tool

I\'ve been doing a lot of sculpting with green stuff lately, and I wanted to know what is used for weapon blades. I noticed when looking at other sculpted figures in the green stuff stage, the weapons are a white-ish color and are of different material, what is it? I\'m thinking maybe some kind of plastic, and I wanted to know how to make it or if there is something I don\'t know.
thanks, Peter

What you can see in the pictures is Milliput
You can also use plastic card to make weapons
Here\'s a tutorial on the milliput way of making weapons:
http://allanc.art.free.fr/index2.htm

Put this site into Babelfish ( Babelfish ), and translate it from French - English
Then go to \"Tutorials and Techniques\"
under the \"Figurines\" heading on the left.
Then scroll to the bottom of the page and you\'ll see \"sculpting weapons with milliput\"
You can get the general picture from the babelfish translation and the decent pictures

Have fun :D

Ive used both plasticard and milliput to make weapons. I used standard grey/yellow because it dries harder. If you use plasticard to make the basic shape you can then use green stuff for detais (runes/skulls etc)

My technique is similar to Alan\'s though it looks like I\'ve got less problem separating plastic from putty. I use plastic card well greased with lipbalm or talcum powder.
What I also do is to squeeze the rough shape using cling foil. This sticks a lot less to the putty.

I\'ve got some demos here.

Tip: if you mix in some green stuff (say 40-50%) the putty will be easier to handle and the weapon will be a tad stronger. I\'ve also used it for sculpting. Both for dry sculpting and wet sculpting

Haven\'t bothered to do the translating yet, but whoever that is has got some imagination. (and skill too)
You\'re kidding right ??? ? You\'ve never stumbled on Allan C\'s work on CMON? He\'s both an expert painter and an accomplished sculpter (he\'s done some works for Ilyad).

Hi Peter, polystyrene rods (round and other shapes) and sheets are available from many good hobby shops. It scrapes and sands quite well but it\'s a bit bendy for my taste for making fine parts.

You could also try making raw materials from putties as suggested but I prefer to use MagicSculp rather than Milliput. Apoxie Sculpt from Aves is also good and carves well I\'ve heard.

They\'re each slightly different as the fillers/pigment alter the working characteristics. Yellow-grey is a bit brittle and grainy for my taste, silver-grey is better overall. Superfine white is the best in some respects (finest texture so it carves best) but silver-grey is slightly tougher from what I\'ve heard. Terracota I\'m not sure about but I think it\'s a little crude compared to the others, you certainly don\'t seem to see it used for finished surfaces much.

I don\'t like Milliput much so I haven\'t used it in years, you might want to check on this.
