Sculpting Waves

I am working on a base which i need to sculpt some large waves on, can aone point me in the direction of a good tutorial/article.

Iv\'e been hunting for a few days now but with no luck (found a few for fire but none for sea/waves)

Which shows how to make waves using plaster. Although the article is not particularly about waves, it does cover the matter.
