sculpting techniques

Hey all!

I have a question for anyone who can answer...Are there any books available on advanced sculpting techniques for metal miniatures? Ive been a sculptor for some years now with a penchant for small detail but there are some techniques that still elude me...like how to create chain-mail! If anyone can point me in the right direction to get some reference material or even just tell me straight out, it would be greatly appreciated!:bouncy:

Its hard to just explain. One technique for chain mail is to use a pointed tip, push in and a little to one side, move over a little and repeat, do this until you have a line of holes. Then start above this and repeat, but this time push in the opposite direction, keep going until you cover the whole area. The end result looks similar to chainmail, its kind of like a bunch of offset circles.

Hope this helps

It\'s such a tiny niche within sculpting I don\'t think anyone has put out a book dedicated to the subject. I suggest that you visit 1listSculpting at Yahoo groups. You will find a lot of useful stuff in their files as well as extensive commentaries in the message section. I happen to know there are a couple of chainmail techniques and tools described there. You will have to join to gain access though.
