Sculpting Cloth

When sculpting cloth, is it better to start with a relatively flat piece of green stuff and bend to folds into it, or start with a slightly chunckier piece and sculpt the folds into it?

Depends how large a piece of \"cloth\" you are doing...

I would say it\'s easier to have some natural bends and folds in the cloth ANYWAY, no matter wat the size, but if you\'re doing a smaller piece, then the folds need to be accentuated, as due to the scale of the mini they might not be all that noticable...

With larger pieces, such as cloaks or banners, you can afford to let it fall naturally, with only a few sculpted folds at the areas where it gathers (Ie. Around the shoulders for a cloak)

Just be sure to have some real material there for reference whenever you sculpt anything.

And different materials fold differently too, although this is probably too difficult to show at mini scale.
