Scenario: Competitive secret missions

There is a variant I would like to try, but am not getting too many games under the belt as I would like.
That is making the secret missions a competitive thing rather than a secret thing.

So at the start of the game draw 3 secret mission cards and lay them in the open.
Then the first person to complete the secret mission gets the points.

I like the idea because now both players tactics are changing depending on whats in the middle and they can determine good counts

Thoughts? Anyone want to try it out.

Would the same number of cards be in play? Or half as many, or one? If the card "can opener" were in play would it mean no player would chance deploying a tank? Clearly monowheels have a speed advantage if it comes to competing for tally ho.

I would say 3 secret cards in play at all times.
Possibly only draw them out from round 2 and add a new one for each completed secret mission at the end of the turn it was completed. (The player second then gets first shot at the new secret mission)
Alternatively, you could play by contesting a secret mission, that is if the starting player completes it and then his opponent completes it in the same turn, both get the VPs, it then becomes a game of one upmanship which is fun :)
