Scale

One of my projects for next years GD is going to be Inquisitor Hand, and as anybody who\'s seen the art will attest, he\'s pretty frickin\' huge. Most of my parts are coming from the inquisitor range, as that\'s really the only way I get get his hugeness across. I\'m still using parts from the 40k range, like his head, but most are inquisitor. I\'m wondering whether I\'ll be forced to enter him in the large model or large scale category, or whether he\'ll be allowed in the regular 40k single, as that is his true scale. (He\'s just big boned)

I\'m worried because to keep the scale as in the artwork, his armour needs to be gigantic while his head remains small, so he\'d look quite out of place in the Inquisitor category with his pinner head, but might be too big to get into the regular 40k. Anybody know the rules, or know where I might find them?

You\'ll probably find that the rules will be tweeked up until a couple of months before the actual date.
Don\'t plan too far ahead for such a big project. You might end up having to cancel it. Or end up in the Open category.

Awwhh, but I\'m so excited! I wanna start now! I wanna start now! So there\'s no definitive set of rules that never changes? I mean, it\'s not set in stone about whether the model has to be a such and such percentage of parts from that scale?

And why did you type \"Or end up in the Open category\" with such disdain? :D

I\'ve never competed in a GD but I have read a couple \"horror\" stories of pieces being placed in other categories according to the judges/organizers whims at the time. So if there are any hard set rules I\'d be suprised.

Yeah, I just got an e-mail back from a Gw troll that it\'ll probably be up to the whim of the judges. I sincerely hope they won\'t make me go into Inquisitor, but they might make me go into open. Honestly, in the art, he towers a full 2 feet over his attendants while sitting down. I\'ve measured him off, and the inquisitor parts combined with his head should make him true to scale 30mm, at least going by the art. If people can make \"true scale\" marines, then I should be able to, too.

Well, all inquisitor scale mini\'s I\'ve seen on GD have been tossed in the 40k Large/Monster category. How big do you think he\'ll be ? :edit: read your post, I\'d put him in the Single mini.

Ummm...

Because of the nature of the art, I already advised you he belongs in the diorama/battle scene category (these days judges are lenient with how much \"battle\" needs to be in the battle scene). Another pro to doing the battle scene is you\'d get to do the full image that\'s shown in the art, as just a big inquisitor sitting on a stool would make a lame single/large model entry.

Ummm, actually you said \"it might be cool to do that because you could do the henchmen, and he\'d look lame sitting down\", to which I countered, \"but I was gonna do him kneeling on a rocky outcropping\", to which you replied \"cool\". :D

(not an exact transcript, but close enough ;) )

I might do that, I dunno, the bitz cost is gonna start racking up....:(

I think I actually replied \"bitchin awesome my good man\" then promptly forgot all we said. In any case, I think as long as you made him fit on a medium round base he\'d be fine in 40k single (you can have a larger display base the base fits into as you know, so you could still do the rocky outcropping.).

***EDIT*** Sorry to burst your bubble Owen, but the idea\'s been done: Here

Silver- diorama France GD 2004... :(

yep, I saw that one first handed as it was in my local GW shop. First GD winning entry I ever saw, And actually wil it was awsome I was a bit disapointed, guess that seeing all those cool minis on CMON raises my standard, or maye me think of GD as a show were only supergodly minni won. Or mayube it\'s just that pictures tend to smooth blending ??? Well anyway to get back on topic I\'d sugest you still do it. Dosn\'t really matter if it was done in france, you can show your own view of the model. Plus the guy isn\'t quit a big as you seem to be saying he should be. Good luck :D

Yeah, I think I\'ll still do it, I mean, I\'ve seen several versions on CMON already, even one that looks like it might be that one, but as they all have tiny pics, I\'ll assume they\'re trying to make up for something, and soldier on ahead. I\'d really love to see a blown-up version of that though, to get some ideas. :D
