I have started painting my saurus warriors again, and I would like to know the best way to paint tattoos on them, or what colours or symbols would look good?
Need answers please.
thanks

You might want to google images search for \"aztec tattoo\" for some inspiration.... but I wouldn\'t go with the girl sitting on the \"Ford\" logo. It doesn\'t quite work with the fluff. lol

You might want to think more along the lines of warpaint, since tattooing scales would be ... difficult. I guess they could be more frivolous about tattooing scales though... lizards shed their skin, so tattoos would be fairly temporary.

We all shed skin - it\'s just lizards do it all in one go - I\'m not zoologist, but I\'m GUESSING a tattoo would still be permanent on a lizard/amphibian.

As for what type, I think the Mayan/Aztecs artistry was mainly cubist in style - it mainly being carvings etc

The fond of complex geometric shapes though, so try googling Aztec Heiroglyphs/Pictograms

I\'ve done a sort of ice blue one on the top of his head crest thing. I can\'t really show due to the lack of a digital camera ( I really have got to get one!!!!)

I was going to suggest you read White Dwarf UK 319. In that issue they show you how to paint Gotrex and his crew. One of the Dwarves has face tattoos that are blue, and they show you how to paint it. Not sure if it helps now though...

A pale colour, but there\'s a wide array to choose from. I don\'t think Lizardmen have the resources to make their own pigments, so they\'d probably get it from plants or animals of the rainforest. Reds or yellows would be most common probably, but no pure whites I think. They\'d crush beetles or squeeze a frog to get their paint-juices

Hmmm.... Might just have to make a saurus tattooing parlour from that idea. someone lying down in a reclining chair while someone squeezes a frog over their head. lovely.

as bill says natural dyes ...
colours that were found a lot in aztec and mayan dress were red\'s and yellows.
out of the two depends really on the shade of brown both could look good. Yellow would probably provide slightly more contrast.

I've been drawing Aztec Tattoo Stencils for several years now. We have made available to the public some of our best creations to own and enjoy for years to come. I love Aztec tattoos they come from a rich past, so many motifs and structured geometrical patterns representing the symbol system of the ancient civilization
