Not much to go on yet... but Ive got a question. Why isn\'t this guy primed? I guess you could have just \"dusted\" him but it really looks like you just skipped that stage. Which seems weird because I took a look at your gallery and you def know what your doing.

I\'m afraid I dont have a really good explanation for why I forgo the priming stage. I guess I find it unnecessary.

I took a 10 year break from painting. To put it mildly, my memory is pretty foggy. I do recall having problems with primer going on too thick and masking detail. At some point, I decided to just paint on the metal and see what the difference would be. In terms of the final product, I cant think of one.

So its that, or the fact that in Chicago, we have 8 months of winter, and I dont have the foresight to prime enough figs to last me through the winter ;).

Yeah I grew up in Chicago, so I know what you mean there. As for the covering up the details all you have to do, which was in a tutorial on here but I dont remember which, is just \"dust\" the mini with primer. It doesnt have to be a complete coat but just make the surface rough enough to make the paint adhere much easier.

Red:

Scab Red>Devlan Mud>Scab Red>Blood Red>Jack Bone>White>Baal Red Glaze

Brown:

Beast Hide>Devlan Mud>Beast Hide>Kommando Khaki>Jack Bone>White>Devlan Mud Glaze

Runes:

Dark Flesh>Badab Black>Dark Flesh>White>White>White>Thraka Green Glaze

The runes turned out looking kinda purple.

I guess thats what happens when you add white to Dark Flesh.

We\'ll see how it looks when i wrap the beard around it.

Looking nice so far!

I am fed up with primers too, the current one I\'m using seems to have accumulated some kind of micro paint clots, making the sprayed mini look like it has smallpox all over.

Maybe I\'ll try your method, it seems to be working for you!

it cant hurt to give it a shot. I dont understand why priming is so embedded in the culture. Maybe at some point early on the paint formulas werent as effective as they are today. Is there a primer lobby? lol
