Any idea when we'll get to see some of the rules? There's a spot for it on Guillotine Games website with a not about getting those up soon.
Just wondering....

My guess would be next week, or the week after that :D I saw on the french guillotine website one of the designer telling some guy that it would arrive in a couple of weeks and that was last week.

I think it would cool to get even the Beta of the rules. More eyes on the rulebook will catch errors that may slip by because everyone so close to the project knows what it's supposed to say.

Just throwing that thought out there.

+1 The questions asked by the rest of us will give cheap guidance into what is not clear and what areas of the rules are unintentionally exploitable. As a software developer, I found that without me there to guide them, people would find the most amazing ways to circumvent the goals of a program.

Agreed.

I'm also from a software dev background, and know from experience that no matter how well you think you've covered everything within your documentation (i.e. rules), users (i.e. players) then come along and start finding huge, bus-sized, holes in it all over the place!

And the more eyes you have on it, and the further those eyes are from the development process, from as early as possible, the better.

On the other hand, if we get their brains, we're neve getting the rules...

But seriously, for something that was supposed to be up before the end of he kickstarter...

Presumably they've got some rules, or maybe art, or IP, issues to iron out before they release them.

I must admit it is a tad concerning though - particularly as they could release them, in whatever state they are, as a beta release.

It would be dirty to give them right after the survey has be closed. As in, "don't like the rules? whelp, too late!"

I wouldn't panic too much: we know almost all of the rules already (some people have basically played the game with stand-ins), and this being a co-op game, if there's that one rule that makes you hate the game, it's a lot easier to houserule than in a competitive game.

I'm not too worried either. If I don't like the game mechanics I'll just house rule everything. The amount of stuff we got in a box + Abomination is already beyond imaginable

The only very very slight concern on my part is that there was certainly the impression that the rules would be released, for download, fairly soon, but they haven't been, and, as was discussed above, if they were to release them then we could all give them a look over and help to iron out any remaining issues - it'd be better to get them right for the release than to find we all have to house-rule something because of a simple oversight.

I'm in no hurry to get the rules either.
What I would like to get ASAP is the scenarios designer they promised.
Now, that would be sweet to start playing with it...

It would probably also require some knowledge of the rules (in greater depth than they're already known) to use effectively.

In fact this is the number 2 reason I want to get the rules sooner rather than later - so that I can start to think seriously about possible scenarios.
