Roudhead cavalry

Hi i\'m painting an english civil war roundhead cavalry man and I am unsure what colour to do his sash. The box art shows it as a pale blue but I have also seen paintings where the sash is shown as an orange colour.
If anyone knows which of these is the right colour for the roudhead of the new model army then I would be very greatfull.
I also don\'t know if it matters but I want the model to be from around the start of the civil war, very early on.
Thanks Gary

I\'m pretty sure sash colour varied but you are safe with a light orange so why not use that?

Up until the New Model army there was very little by way of uniform in the ECW. Some Royal regiments had some. Most people wore their own clothes. There were some regiments that wore things like oak leaves in their hats as a badge to show their allegiance.

In short whatever colour you fancy. Orange sashes are shown alot but it varies. Just not Purple because it\'s an extraordinarily expensive dye.

Thanks for the replys guys I could just remember from my time working at the royal armouries being told that the sashs where used due to the lack of uniform so you could tell enemy from friend. I remember that in the stores most of the royalist armour if it had cloth on it it was normaly red, and I just couldn\'t remember what the roundheads wore to seperate themselves on the battle field.
With me wanting to do a cold base I will either go with a muted orange or a soft blue I think.
Thanks again Gary
