Rogue Trader Techmarine

Hi Folks.

I\'ve just made my first submission to the site, a Rogue Trader techmarine.

http://www.coolminiornot.com/193997

Think it\'s one of 3 (RT techmarines) on the site! Mini-essay on the submission itself, but thought some of you might be interested in an old old mini.

Hoping for somewhere between a 6 - 7 on a final score, but would be delighted with any constructive criticism!

I think you would do well to thin down your paints a lot; just remember that it\'s always easier to put on more thin paint than to remove excess paint.

I like the skull gear insignia, but I\'m not crazy about the hand - I think it\'s the inconsistent width of the black-lining. around the hand.

This is a fun bit of history - thanks for sharing it with us!

Hi ,

First off welcome to the forums mate :)

I like the model, yea the paints could do with being thinner espically on the blue but i dont think its too clunky.

The freehand skull is great, the blending on the red of the gun is nice.

I would put more contrast on the jetpack, some black washes maybe. As it looks a little clean for my liking.

I like the paintjob overall, freehands especially.

I hear you on the paints. The jump-pack was unfortunately already heavily painted, and although I think a standard backpack would be better... well, RT techmarines always had jump-packs. It was the law!

I was also a little surprised how much difference it made that the model was an old sculpt. Just the lack of detail makes it feel very blobby, where I\'ve painted.

I\'ve just started a first edition harlequin, and am finding the same again. Just not quite as easy to pick out the details as a more modern mini\'s.

Totally agree about the black lines on the yellow hand, but it only shows up in the photo (or else my eyesight isn\'t that great!) Might go back and try to even it up.
