RIP Billy Powell

Billy Powell, the greatest rock pianist ever to grace the stage, member of Lynryd Skynryd, passed away last night.

Some of the band members would show up at a BBQ place just north of me every now and then. Impromptu jam sessions were wonderful.

Seems one of the band members would be visting his mother. Never sure which ones. And I always seem to find out about it the next day. None of my friends would think to call me while they were there......

If I had friends like that I\'d go by a convertible from \'73. Doesn\'t matter which one, but it\'s gotta have an eight track. I drive that car with \"Freebird\" playing very loudly and as the crescendo hits I drive it into the living room of one of the friends and leap from the vehicle, snatching the 8 track as I leap.

As I shoulder roll onto the ground I pu tthe eight track into a portable player and walk away to hitch hike home playing \"Tuesday\'s Gone\".

RIP Billy Powell. Hopefully he\'s playing the big encore in the sky with the members of the band who went before....
