Reference pictures of knights and armour

hi guys
out of curiousity is anyone interested in me uploading some photos of the knights from my medieval re-enactment group? i took some reference photos specifically to help me with NMN last weekend. ive got closeups of helmets, chainmail and swords as well as some other weapons and pictures of the knights in combat. theres only one of them in full plate as most of the group is wearing kit thats too early for it to be full plate but its good for showing where the shadows and highlights are and some nice poses for anyone needing reference for minis. anyone interested? i can upload some to Flickr if people would like to see
im part of Medieval realms, one of the largest re-enactment groups in the north east of Scotland ( http://www.medieval-realm.co.uk/ though im a new member so the personas page hasnt got me in it yet)
i dont know where this post should go really so i put it in general, heres 2 examples

The pictures you have shown here would be a very helpful resource for NMM/SENMM painters.
Possibly one of the easiest thing to do would be to create an article on Coolminiornot ensuring that the pictures get hosted on CMON.

Placing pictures on external hosted sites has two main problems;
1 Imageshack & Flickr seemingly get blocked by \"corporate firewalls\" as a default.
2 External hosts cannot be controlled and when moderating images that have \"broken\" the largest number I have seen have all been hosted on Imageshack. Whether that is due to the Imageshack connectivity or bandwidth issues it\'s hard to tell.

Has anyone found anything similar to GW vampire counts horse barding? I\'m struggling a bit in a red NMM attempt, I will post some WIP definitely, but in the meantime I would like to get it started ;)

Hey Vonkrolok, you probably won\'t find much in the way of VC barding. Its fantasy. Most horse barding I have seen is rather boring. I\'ll keep an eye out though.

That looks like aluminium or another softer metal or alloy Dan - very different appearance to steel.

I know it\'s fantasy, but in the sense of reference material one can stumble upon a painted barding similar to that of VCs...thanks for the \"eye out\" ;)

@wg - that was taken around Halloween, and the house was kitted out with cobwebs, fake spiders and bats for the kids :)

@Einion - I haven\'t a clue - I didn\'t touch it

i havent got anything for vampire counts style but i do have some thats more brettonian style from a jousting event i went to. unfortunately they were using knitted maille and it wasnt real armour but the barding was beautiful. ill post one or two photos of that.

thanks guys, ill upload the pictures soon. ive got my final hand in day tommorow of all my artwork for the entire year at uni so im going to be busy finishing bits and pieces off today....(when im not at a Beltaine fire festival, but shhh, i didnt say that lol)

it\'s german plate barding you want to check out for something with a vampire counts feel.

french and english \"white\" armour is perfect for brettonian examples (as already stated by the frog queeny women person)

not so much for the horse as much for the raider

a side view finally...

Now onto something that may be of help for anyone venturing into NMM, but not quite as connected: how is it possible to change the color of the metal without touching the highlights? I tried in photoshop, simple hue/saturation correction, but unfortunately it makes the highlights colored instead of leaving them white as they should be...any idea?

Theres a load of photos here of last weeks event at Bodelwyddan castle. Wide range of armour and weaponry in various conditions. Bonus points if you can spot me :D

do you know that most of the armour we see today was only for display (and it was coloured)

the field armour was left with the foundry finish (blackenend blue) as it didn\'t need as much oiling to protect it from rust.

and definitely waaaaayyyy too heavy to be field armors...mail was considered to be pretty good in the field...maybe scale as well, but definitely plate was too bulky and generally used in tournaments and training.
