Red Eyes/Pupiless Eyes?

Anyone have tricks for making them less...
FLAT!

The plastic dinosaur I picked up for my squiggoth coversion has large eyes on it and they look way too flat just left red.

I dont want to add any pupils, just depth.
HELP!

You could paint the edges of the eye with dark red and the center of the eye orange, so it gradually gets brighter towards the center of the eye. (You\'ll want several layers, depending on how large the eye is.)

You can finish it up with a few white dots at the top for light reflections, followed by a gloss coat to give it that extra wet appearance.

you could try to look at some mangas and try to do the same. They usually have big eyes of one color.
