Hi everyone, long time reader, first time poster...:)

Despite being into Warhammer for the last 8 years, i\'ve only really just started to get into the painting side of things...I\'ve always been more interested in that side of the hobby, but until recently havent had the time, money or patience to go much further than block colour.

I took part in the 40kOnline Painting competition a while back, and managed to place 1st in the beginners category, with my first model using what I would call the advanced techniques, such as blending.

This was my first ever attempt at blending. I\'m quite pleased with it... :D

Well, what I would like to know from you marvellously talented people, is what kind of brush, and which paints to go for...I have been using GW, but they dry out so quickly, and are getting more expensive by the minute, so after hearing so much about Vallejo, and the Andrea pigments, I was wondering if anyone could recommend anything?

Thanks in advance - James

Vallejo, Coat D\'Arms and Reaper paints are all decent. Winsor & Newton 7\'s, Da Vinci and Pro Arte Renaissance are all decent brushes.

Take your pick.:)

for brushes: raphael 8400 and 8404 work nice or W&N serie 7.
And nice paint job so far. The lighting isn\'t right on the abs but it looks good so who cares :p

your doing excellent.

im using gw and replacing them with vallejo model and game colour as they run out, which are great quality paints.

as for brushes i have some vallejo own brand which are ok but curl after awhile.my mums makes brushes for company so i use that companies own brushes which are red sable and pure kolinsky sable

Thanks everyone!

I think I may buy a Vallejo Game Colour starter set, see what they\'re like, then possibly expand my collection from there, then after them, adding in Model Colour paints as I get better...good idea?

And with the abs, I was going for more of a core/down the middle look than the realistic look abs, but I know exactly what you mean, and I might see what it looks like on my next mini...

As for the colour scheme, I wanted to do an Ulthwe army, liked the colours, but didnt particularly like the GW scheme...I did a version of this in solid red, black and bone, but then decided to use all the information in the posts here and on 40kOnline to attempt something better...this!

I have a Falcon done in a similar colourscheme... would anyone like me to post?
