ratio of painted minis to unpainted minis

I am so happy. Today I counted up my minis, and found that i now have more painted minis than unpainted ones! I am so pleased. However, the other minis have no hope I am afraid. Almost all of them were made during a period when I was learning to convert, and they....suck. They are so awful I will never paint them, so In time I will canibalize the parts and it will all be forgetten. Hows your painted/unpainted ratios?

I hang my head in shame and have to admit that the ratio of painted to unpainted miniatures in my collection is about 10:90, and of those measly 10% about half are unfinished ( and probably never will be!!)

hmm. well it used to be about (0:10 painted to unpainted when I was unemployed. But now that I\'ve got a job its swinging rapidly in the other direction!lollol

I hate to admit it, but since I have only been doing about one mini every two weeks since I first picked up the hobby last Christmas vacation, I have a painted/unpainted ratio of maybe 1:15.

Oh, do primed minis count? That\'s like paint! That would drop the ratio to about 1:10.

Hmm, on this one lets see - I\'ve got about 200-250 painted minis (painted and sealed, not just primed) - about 500 primed minis (I was given an entire samurai army in 25 mm and its still waiting to be painted) - 25 or so soaking in the dip to be repainted and about 5 or so pounds of unprimed, flashed, no cleaning of the moldlines lead waiting for me. I think I\'m going to put it in my will that they bury those with me. lol

My painted to unpainted is something like 1:30 or 1:40.

Most of the ones I do have painted are chronically fiddled with, so I am not sure if they are ever \'finished\'.

I did make a promise that I wouldn\'t buy another mini until this ratio gets to be more manageable.

So far, the promise is working. The last mini I bought was the CMON Amazon.

53 painted, 68 unpainted. It\'s a lot better than it used to be, especially since I managed to mini-a-week for 10 weeks... Part of the problem is that a certain person gave me a bunch of Pulp Figures minis recently, and while I appreciated it, not all of them interest me (4 naked cavemen?). I also have a lot of really old solid-lead minis of varying quality, and half a squad of Imperial Stormtroopers... *sigh*

I also made the promise not to buy any more minis until I had painted the ones I had. But the darn E-bay keeps putting them up for auction and I have no willpower.

I probably have between 120 and 150 painted with about 60 waiting to be painted. Actually, that\'s not entirely true. I was given an Empire Battalion that is completely unpainted. That will add about 50 models to the unpainted list. So I\'m pretty near 1:1. I also have the entire 5th edition Warhammer Bretonnian and Lizard starter armies unpainted. However, I do not count them as I have no desire to paint them. I may get to them, someday, but really, who am I kidding. I don\'t even collect those armies.

Probably 5% are completed. Another 40% in progress. I sell my minis when I get them done so it\'s hard to get a good percentage. Fortunately, it keeps me from going back and \"fiddling\" with them.

Anyways... I also made the pledge to paint \'em all before buying any more and I\'m one fellowship of the ring boxed set away from doing just that. My ratio of painted to unpainted stands at 10/1. My biggest fear now is that according to mini-painter lore, if you paint them all you\'ll die!

Promises, Promises

I made myself the same promise Dearheart made, that I wasn\'t going to buy any more until I had painted all the ones I have. Then my local shop got a new shipment of Confrontation minis in this week, d**n him.... ANyway, at this point I\'m about 10:1 unpainted to painted, and that\'s probably being generous.

My promise was not to buy more armies until I finished painting the previous ones.. Stupid swarm armies, I also have two that I\'ll never play so.. I\'m guessing hundreds to one by now. Then again I paint in regiments 20 at a time so, that number will get dropped quickly.

Well I have different ratios.
My unopened to opened boxes is 2:1
My painted to unpainted therefore is 4:1

I have about 30 painted 25mm and 3 painted 75mm.

B U T.....

Probably 3 times my own body weight in unpainted minis. In fact I ventured into the roof the other day and I brought down 4 large Quality Street tins (2.18kg of super chocolates were in each one!) that were so heavy with lead I could only carry one at a time. Plus I have other figs still boxed.....dotted around the place

I definitely agree with Otter - primer is paint, ok so it\'s the same colour all over, but it\'s still a covering right That puts my score up to probably 60 \'painted\' - phew that\'s better!
