Rare large scale 40k marine model

Hi all,

I've recently been organising my collection and I have a few duplicates. One such is this large scale marine, which was given to GW staff about ten years ago or so, when I was working at the GW studio.

I actually have a couple of these and I will paint one but want to sell the other, proceeds of which will go toward more minis!

My question is how should I price it? It's not something that can be easily bought but is good quality and rare (turmiel is there to show scale).

Or should I list it in an auction and see how it goes?

Any advice welcome.

Ahhh the days when gw staff presents were awesome, I still have the 54mm war dancer on a shelf :)
Tbh it is worth whatever someone will pay, other than having a price you want for it and listing that as the reserve there isn't much you can do.

I had success with a rare figure here a while back by simply holding a blind auction
via PM with a specified end date and a specified minimum.

I would suggest at least a $70 minimum.

If you don't like what you get, pull it back. Easy.

I'd say there's be a market for this and then some - I'm not a fan of GW space marines and even I'd like to acquire it, GW fanboys should be drooling!

It is difficult to know how to price it, but GW + rare should naturally equal not cheap. If you decide to auction it I would recommend either a reserve or starting it at a realistic price, on the off chance there isn't a bit of a bidding war for it.

I recently did a couple of jet packs for this figure only he had a plasma pistol, its a lovely detailed bit of kit 70mm i believe. You could do a PM auction here highest bid takes the mini or the next bet would be Ebay the only problem with that is paypal/ebay fees eating into your profit. Good luck selling it you should do well.

Very cool. Assuming it's 70mm scale... I'd say $70 is on the low end. Other manufacturers minis at 70mm run between $60-70. Combine that with the rarity and number of GW fans out there and I'd think it could go for a good deal more.

I think your best bet would be to auction it off on ebay. I'd start the bidding at $100, expect it to sell for around $150, and I could even see it going for well over $200. Because its rare it's hard to say how much people would be willing to spend, that's why I'd go with an auction, let the market sort it out. If and when you do put it up, be sure to let people here and on other 40k related forums know.

Thanks for the input everybody. Seems like just starting this thread has generated some interest, as I've already had a few offers via PM.

So, I will wait tip Monday morning 9.00am GMT and whoever has offered the most gets it. If it stays in the UK I'll post for free, anywhere else I'll charge whatever the cost is.

Alternatively if you want to jump the bidding process and be sure it's yours then PM me an offer of £200 in the next hour and it's yours, for a quick sale.

OK, highest offer by Monday morning gets it. PM for a quote on postage if you're outside the Uk.

Cheers and if I haven't replied to your PM's yet I will get to you.

I didn't hear back from the highest bidder, so this is still available. It was going to go for $150, so first person to offer me that gets it.

Cheers
