Questions from a Newbie

Hello All,

I am still new to posting on these forums and I guess I am running into some various issues when posting pictures on my WIP log. I do not have my own digital camera right now (it is coming soon) and I am trying to find idea\'s / images online to best explain my train of thought.

This process is going alright however some of the images I post are way way too big for the page and make all the text go all over the place, then it is difficult to read because viewers have to scroll along the bottom to follow what is going on

I guess my questions are: 1.) is there a good place I can go to upload images to (free of charge I hope) so I can in turn post them on here

2.) How do you resize an image posted from another website (no clue if this is possible)

3.) can I get some aspirin?

4.) Is there a way to download a photo, and re-color it. I guess without being a photoshop god. (I want to make a red frog.... purple)

thanks for helping me... :duh:

I use Flickr and I know others use PhotoBucket. Both of those are free (to a point) and I\'ve had no trouble with Flickr. As an aside, I was testing the links to make sure they work, and it appears I have a photobucket account as well. No pictures, but I have the account. Wonder when I did that. Hmm. Very old email account, but still the same computer (via the auto form fill).
2.) How do you resize an image posted from another website (no clue if this is possible)
Supposedly, according to this page, you can with the BB Code. I haven\'t managed to get it to work. But, Flickr I know has different sizes made automatically, so it would be simple to link to the size you want.
3.) can I get some aspirin?
No. It isn\'t allowed. You can however drop an knife blade into your hand, foot, or thigh. Your headache will fade into the distance.
4.) Is there a way to download a photo, and re-color it. I guess without being a photoshop god. (I want to make a red frog.... purple)
Er, yes. I believe you can run a color adjustment until the colors are purple. Course, everything else will turn purplish as well. Anything more complex would turn you into a lesser immortal, so you\'ve got little chance of becoming the god you fear.

Oh thanks for letting me know about that site, that is pretty simple to use. Maybe tomorrow I can work on using that site more and putting more of my images up on there

Thanks

1) I use photobucket. Mostly because flicker is blocked at work (go figure?)

2&4) Do a google search for GIMP image or GIMP photo. (be sure safe search is on) and find the free download. There are some good tutorials on the articles section here.

You\'re welcome. It is a pretty easy site to use. Plus if you ever get into the situation, I find that flickr isn\'t blocked by corporate web filters. It\'s frustrating to read stuff at work and not be able to see what everybody is gushing over.

My workplace just put a tighter restriction onto web surfing. If a site hasn\'t been classified by the filter, it gets blocked. So a lot of innocent things don\'t make it through. Oh well, world I live in.

As someone who moderates images let me give you a good piece of advice......Don\'t use flickr, imageshack or photobucket to host images for voting as all drop out regularly. Coolmini\'s hosting has been good enough for most people.

Both Flickr and Imageshack have had enough \"drop-outs\" for me to not recommend them to anyone for linking images in the forums.

Remember that blog users get some free space for photo storage. All my photos are uploaded to my blog and then ignored for forever.

I agree on the voting image, but the forum images drop out? I\'ve actually never seen that, except with off-brand image hosts. Maybe I\'m just not looking at old enough posts.

Weird, because it\'s the exact opposite here. Flickr is allowed while photobucket is blocked.
