[question] re: High humidity and primers/sealant sprays:

I\'m seeking any tips and techniques anyone may have for spraying primers and sealants in high humidty areas. I\'ve followed lots of tips in regards to distance/shaking well etc but am still having issues with my primers and sealants. The two types of primers and sealants I\'ve used are GW and Krylon.

I believe the problem with my primer may be that the humidity causes it to clump due to moisture in the air clumping the spray before it hits the mini. I\'ve also wondered whether or not the temperature outside will affect the mini/sprays as well. It\'s very warm here as well as a with a high humidty. I\'ve wondered if I were to cool the can and the mini if it would help..or if it might explode (in the case of the can).

My sealant problem consists of milky coverage..both with GW and Krylon, though less so with Krylon.

Please believe me when I say I\'ve tried several tips in regards to making sure I\'m far enough away or close enough to the minis while spraying..even to the point of using a measuring tape. Also, I do not have a basement to spray in, they\'re just not feasable where I live. (salt marsh area in case anyone is wondering :) )

I\'d appreciate any tips or ideas ya\'ll can come up with as it\'s getting very frustrating to spend hours painting a mini only to have it look like I did it in five minutes.

Thanks all :)

Only when they're green
It\'s pretty humid here as well. I find that spraying in a cool room helps, and going easy on the coats (as far as the primer goes). According to Bobby Wong, the US GW primer is a different formula to the UK one I use (I shipped him a couple of cans), and is preferred so it could be the primer itself that is unreliable.

As for sealants, from experience sealants only go milky if they go on in too heavy a coat, or aren\'t allowed to dry fully between coats. How thickly are you spraying?

\"How thickly are you spraying?\"

Possibly this is my problem.. I had been spraying rather heavily but have stopped and am using thinner coats. It does seem to reduce the milky color but it\'s still not working as well as I think it should. I\'m going to try new cans of both products and see if maybe I just had a bad batch .. if that does\'nt work.. well..dunno :)

re: primers...spraying inside isn\'t an option as we have no room that it would\'nt matter if it got on the walls etc. I was thinking of possibly getting a large cardboard box and making some sort of background to catch the excess spray. Gotta think more on how I could build it. :)
