Looking at the frames... Finally a plastic thunder hammer for normal marines!
...the hammer
is very wolf-themed, though if you don\'t mind some filing and filling...
Had a personal look at the new codex and unit sprue today... mixed feelings:
-The sprue: Made of win and awesome! In a 10-man box (Bloodwolves (?)/ Greymanes), you get: 10 pairs of legs; 10 Space Wolf-themed torsos (12 if you have spare backs); 10 Backpacks (again, all the stuff looks VERY theme-appropriate); some 15 pairs of shoulderpads; loads of weapons (enough to outfit them all with either bolters or 2CCW), special weapons like plasguns or power fists included; and some 50 (!) heads plus some assorted thingamabobs. Basically, you can mix and match one of these boxes with one (at least) standard marine box, get two space wolf units and have a load of bits to wolfify another marine or scout squad. I love it.
The Codex: Well, it\'s awesome. And horrible. One very cool thing: \"Sagas\" for characters. Basically like Bretonnian virtues, e.g.: Saga of the Wolf adds some I and LD. Sagas include oaths, like in this case: at least one Wolf (big friggin cyberbeasts)
should survive. Yes, should. The penalties for not following the oath: zilch! Apparently, Space Wolves run on the honour system...
OTOH, ready for an outraged outcry of \"cheese!\": Squad characters with D6+2 Powerfist Attacks when charging for 40 (plus 15 base model costs) points? Fenriswolf Cavalry, S,T 5 with 2 Wounds and fully customisable for 50 points each? (kiss those boss bikers goodbye)
Cheaper Terminators? Counterattack all around? And and and...
Honestly, if they keep up this arms race, I can\'t begin to imagine what the Codex: Necrons will be like...
Have a look at it and get your own opinion on it, though.
