Does the use of Qhorin's Sacrifice for the Cause grant a vp to the opponent?

It is the destruction of a unit caused by an effect generated by its owner. RAW would indicate yes, but it seems heavy handed for a 6 point unit.

The sentence you are quoting is taken from Victory Through Combat, which only applies to Combat Units:

Victory Through Combat
In addition to any methods listed in the Game Mode, a playeralways earns 1 Victory Point when they destroy an enemyCombat Unit. In the event that a unit is destroyed by an effectgenerated by their owner, or an effect not controlled by anyplayer, each of their opponents will earn 1 Victory Point.
