Problems with SuperSculpy

Hi all, been a while.
Quite some time ago I had the \'brilliant\' idea of adding some loincloths to all of my Space Marines. With my sculpting skill still in it\'s wee infancy (barely up to toddler now), I thought I might need some sort of removable backing between each marines legs to provide support for the sculpt of the loincloth.
Since I had plenty of SuperSculpy clay on hand, I thought I\'d give that a try and jammed quite a bit between the legs.
This, of course, creeped into cracks and crevices of the model.
I was never able to finish the project and have since gone a different direction with my marines.
Now to remove the sculpy....yeah... that didn\'t go well... anyone have any idea how to safely* remove sculpy from a plastic model? :( ???

*I said \"safely\" because not only will it not come off the mini, but it also seems to be slightly toxic and has softened and warped the plastic quite a bit... removing some finer details and generally turning the piece to a bit of a blob where-ever the sculpy touched. :flame::mad:

Doh!

Yeah, sculpey doesnt like plastic too much. You can dilute it but I think everything that dissolves sculpey will dissolve plastic too. Acetone and the like. How were you going to bake the sculpey on a plastic figure? Anyway, your model might be not be salvageable. Whatever reacts with the plastic may or may not be in there forever.

I\'ve sculpted quite a bit with super sculpey and can tell you it cleans off great with 91% rubbing alcohol. The alcohol will not harm the plastic surface at all. You may need to scrub a little, so an old toothbrush should do the trick. You will also notice your primer will stick better to cleaned plastic also.

Happy cleaning.

Perhaps I wasn\'t too clear... the sculpy was not going to be baked. It was simply used as a filler between the marine legs so I could sculpt a greenstuff loincloth onto the marine without worry of the gs collapsing on me when I made folds. Once the gs was cured, the still soft sculpy would have been removed, leaving nothing but the gs loincloth. At least, that was the plan.

:( sigh...

Thanks for the tip Patrick. I\'ll give that a shot and if that doesn\'t work, it looks like I\'ll just be cutting the bad plastic and resculpting .
