Problem with leaving comments to my own pictures without voting it

Hi guys

It used to be so that when you left a comment under one of your own pictures you would rate it '-' I belive it happened automatically, but now when posting a comment I seem to have no choise but to rate my own picture, which I think is a bit strange? Looking at other peoples comments to own pictures it seems that they still have the option of giving a '-' instead of rating it. Any suggestions?

I tried to not give my own a score but it always defaults to 6, so now I put something lower in.

I seriously try to judge it the best I can. Mostly, my own 'vote' is pretty much on par with what the vote becomes.

I'd like to be able to vote "-" as well. The trouble is that if you respond to questions you're constantly tweaking your own vote. Itd be better to be able to respond without affecting scores, if possible. If it's a huge coding pita, then fine, ok dokes - just vote whatever you feel is reasonable.

Thanks for the answers - so you have the same problem as me ... great :thinking: but since it used to be possible to vote '-' it can't be that hard to bring it back on. Is there a moderator that could bring up this request to the right people?

The problem is that some times you end up posting 3-4 times under your own pictures and it just doesn't seem prober that you have to rate it everytime - and then there is the whole issue of you boosting up your own rating - willing or not?? I don't know I just thought it worked better before ( sounds like I'm getting old hehe)

I don't think comment scores are votes per se. You'd still have to vote using the voting scale, to affect the score. And I think the "system" averages multiple votes from the same user, somehow.

Commentary "Votes" are not directly affecting Scores, plus we see lots of people commenting or responding to comments left on there own work which bypasses the Comments "Votes".
Feel free to comment merrily away without any guilt.

Are you certain about this? i know it was the case before the update but now it still says "last voted: blabla" after leaving comment without hitting the scoreboard (if im not mistaken i believe i even seen my comment affecting the total score)

Thanks for setting things straight Dragonsreach. The solution that you gave seems right - but the fact that the rating doesn't count unless your using the voteing barometer at the right side of the screen is new to me - I might go back and revise some of the pictures ( by other users that is) that I've only rated as part of a comment that I have left to the picture.
