Privateer press bases for Ork army?

I'm considering this. I've painted up some units, but I haven't based them yet. PP bases not only look much cooler, they are also a bit wider, keeping my stormboys and Nobz from falling over.

My question is this: is there anyone who has done this and come across troubles in gaming? would I be breaking the rules?

you're not allowed to field models on bases smaller than those they come with do I don't see anything wrong with having nicer, larger bases. :)

In general larger is fine, however some tournaments will not allow it as in certain circumstances it can provide a gaming advantage. In pick up games you will be fine with the exemption of anally retentive WAAC gimp holes. For tournaments always email the TO in advance to avoid disappointment.

Thanks for your replies, people:)

The only "advantage" I can think of would be when fired upon with template weapons, but I couldnt get the figures any closer together anyhow due to their size, so I guess even this wouldnt apply, at least to the orks.

I don't intend to play any tournaments, at least not any serious ones (I suck at the game, always been more of a painter). I'm going to do this! The figures from GW are a lot bigger than they where in the rouge trader days (orks are in some cases twice the size), yet the bases are the same size? It doesnt make sense to me!
