Pre-owned values for minis?

Does anyone know of a site that lists the approximate values of fantasy miniatures?
Stuff Of Legends is a useful site for identifying minis but it doesn\'t list market values.

I\'ve been buying up some minis on eBay and at car-boot sales to resell them for a profit but it can sometimes be hard to judge the rarity and desirability of some miniatures.

I\'ve spent about 0„5300 so far and I can be reasonably sure that the collection will fetch at least 0„5500 unpainted (the worst that can happen is I break even) but I\'m sure I can get around 0„51000 if I sell them at the right time and with the right information.

A good rule of thumb seems to be, if it is a figure I want nothing to do with, there are millions of them, and the price is always cheap.

If its a figure I\'m trying to find, there are only two available, and thirty people want to bid on it.

Hope that helps.lol:rolleyes:

There doesn\'t seem to be a RRP for older minis... it\'s all luck of the draw... I have seen a mini I wanted (dwarf on skiis) and it\'s gone for LOADS... I then saw another one that went for very little within a few days (Glad I waited!).

in short, some you will make a profit, some a loss.

Might be worth watching fleabay\'s prices on a selection of the minis you have, then you can see the kind of sums they\'re going for. It should give you a rough idea, at least.

Since I posted these pics on Warhammer.org I thought I might as well post them here too. This is about two thirds of my collection:

Apologies for this being pic heavy!

I\'m interested in the Rackham stuff and the dragons. Same thing. Sell or trade.

Is anyone else looking at these pictures and going \'got it, got it, got it, need it, got it\'?

Hi all, I\'m not sure what I\'m going to do with them all yet, probably half will go on eBay and some I\'ll paint up. I\'ll post a message here at a later date to let you know when any are up for sale.

BTW, I\'m in the UK.

god... I used to have minis in that sort of quantity.

I\'m so glad I\'ve thinned them down to the ones I really really want.

I can\'t see you getting alot of cash for any of them to tell you the truth. The only things that may be of interest to folk would be the ogres and dragon imho.
best of luck ;)

get them stripped before putting them on fleabay.

bad paintjobs and poor pics deflate minis values so much it\'s not funny (unless your the buyer hehe)

check fleabay as well, if similar models are already on in great numbers then leave alone as their value will drasticly drop.

These are mine and most of those will be given away at some point... unless you\'re shifting very rare, very well painted of huge numbers of them, I just don\'t think there\'s much profit to be had in minis.

Oh I don\'t know, I only paid about 0„5220 in total for the ones in the photos and there are a few rare vintage minis that will sell quite well once they\'ve been cleaned up.

I\'ve paid about 30p - 75p for most of the \"normal size\" minis (60c - $1.50) so it won\'t be hard to re-sell them for a small profit.

You have got to think about the time it takes to take pics, list each item, get the customers address, give feedback, pay for packaging, pack the mini, go to the post office, pay for postage and often lose money doing so...all these little things all add up.
:(

I\'d agree. Actually pretty much any \'collectible\' is hard to make money on.

any current collectable, yes.
antiques is where it\'s at for making big money, and for that you need a lot of knowledge backed by a lot of money.

Oooo, you\'ve got two of the Freebooter LE angel, I\'m jealous!

I\'ve got buckets of old minis from a guy who decided to pare down his life and gave us all his game stuff to share out amongst our game group. The 15 boxes of board games will be well fought over in our group. The box (at least 2x2x2 in size) of old Ral Partha, Grenedier and misc. opened minis, the other larger box of blisters, mainly War Zone, and the five organizers worth of GW... that I think is stuck in my basement until I do something with it, as the only mini enthusiast of the group.

I\'d love to think that it\'s a treasure trove and I could make a little money off of it, but the first obstacle is identifying any of it, which is probably not worth the time even if it were possible. (And anything really valuable I\'d give back, he wants to keep his RP red dragon, for instance.) So I figure the best I could do is group like companies and items together and sell it in small lots. But with Ebay\'s policies favouring their biggest sellers over the flea market type sellers, with the cost in time and money of cleaning, photographing, posting, packaging and mailing, not to mention the economy tanking and it probably being a bad time to sell luxury goods, it just hasn\'t quite seemed worth the effort to do. Though I\'d really like to get the space cleared out and see at least some of these minis go to people who\'d enjoy them, so hopefully I\'ll get around to it one day.

Oh, and on the topic of antiques... I\'m not sure it\'s much better a deal. I used to watch both UK and US versions of Antiques Roadshow. Aside from art and a few anomolies, the biggest ticket items seemed to be furniture. $10,000 for a table sounds impressive. But if you consider that it would cost you the same to have a table made of that quality wood using those hand-crafting techniques... where\'s the value added for age, for carting it around and storing it all those years?

Take your blasphemy elsewhere! lollol:D

Sadly I am doing the same. This could almost be confused for my collection, except way too much stuff has paint on it, and I don\'t see any old RAFM or Grenadier.

There\'s a lot there I would love to take off your hands, The Blood Bowl Trolls and Ogres, Some of the old Space Marines in posses I don\'t have etc.

If you do decide to go through FeeBay make sure you let us know. Personally I think you would be better off just selling them through private transactions, that way you avoid the Fee part of FeeBay.
