NEEEERRRDDDSSSS!!!!

Ha! Actually the coolest DnD party I ever heard of was mentioned as playing live one week over the air on Rob Zombie's net radio thingy. It was supposedly Zak Wylde, Rob Zombie, Sherry Moon, David Duchovny, and someone else I liked. Never found that link though.

One of the more interesting ones I've heard (though still unconfirmed, but highly likely) was Vin Diesel getting Dame Judi Dench to play a session of DnD during the filming of Chronicles of Riddick.

That's so quote worthy, had to be done.

Used to think "you know you've spent too much time online" when you recognise the MILF acronym, but can now add "when you recognise a pornstars name". :hypnotized:

Although the most alarming thing for me is, D&D, really? Not a decent rpg. Would have thought with all those tattoos and piercings a bit of WFRP, Cthulhu or World of Darkness.

its just a dice mechanic. unless you play canned games (mfg release only), the whole idea behind any RPG is that it can become what you want. of all the RPGs ive played (which is a lot) ive found d&D3.5/pathfinder to be the most versatile. my favorite mechanic might be that of the old james bond RPG, though.

Nah, I hate the D20 system. It's jut always been so much of a restrictive ruleset I've found. Down to the character alignment, levelling up, awarding experience. There's TON'S of rules you can throw away and never use but then I could just play a more streamlined system in the first place.

My fav was the west end games D6 system (first ed.) that they used originally for the Star Wars RPG. After 5 minutes of play you were an expert. Then they tried to complicate matters with a 2nd ed. that steered it more towards the charts and levels system of D20 and I was not a fan.

Really, to be honest the game system doesn't matter as much as the group of players.
Marvel, GURPS, Call of Cthullu, Vampire, Werewolf, Star Wars, or D&D. It really doesn't matter, the group I play with will have fun with it all.

My question to the gamers is this: Would you want Porn Stars or other sex industry workers in your game?

I admit I would be hesitant, however, I'm hesitant with most people as I consider the group dynamic to be an integral part of the game. I admit it, I'm a gaming snob. If you don't fit in with the group due to personality clashes/ issues you bring, you're not invited.

Does that count?

But geez, man, of course I know who those people are, I wasn't born in a cornfield!

Oh wait, yes I was.

Well, I'd say you answered the question in your first paragraph. Why wouldn't I want a porn star or whatever in my game? If it were because of basically having issues with what (s)he does for a living... well, I could as well refuse to play with, say, lawyers. But I'd rather judge basing on how they fit into the group dynamic and what they "bring to the table", so to speak, than what their job might be.

I would sooner play an RPG with a porn star than a D&Der.

With the best will in the world, games ain't just a mechanic. They're a full ruleset, a host of mechanics, and together work well with the certain scenarios - all that together creates a flavour, and imbues a mindset. The one D&D creates and imbues can be a real hurdle when a player moves to another system.

Course, I wouldn't know if being a porn star would bring anything peculair to the gaming table, but I'd be willing to find out. :p

@Scottradom - Woot! That old WEG version of Star Wars was a beaut. :)

Yeah man, I love the hell out of that system. For my money, it's flawless. WEG hit it outta the park! I've never found anything so easy, all inclusive, but still made sense at the same time. Then of course they ruined it by trying to make it more complex to appeal to the majority of RPG buyers who want more charts and tables. Sigh...

I don't actually know what I am complaining about. I still have my rules. I should whip them out and have a session or two. Haven't RPG'd in a damn long time.

Vike-Nope, doesn't count. You gots to be up in his grill with the nerdness for it to count. But call me before you do! I want to see it. Chrome is right, he'll probably be okay with it, but just in case I got my money on Wylde!
