Anybody watching what was going on with this?

Looks like either a scammer at work or not being taken seriously.

Be interesting to hear from the seller what went on?

Interesting bidding with a 0 feedback bidder always coming back with big $$$. The other bidder had low feedback (16) so probably legit? The auction ended early with all the bids pulled.

With the way Ebay covers up who\'s bidding now and not being able to trace their bidding and purchases. I am getting well shy of bothering for pieces like this as I just don\'t feel that there is open bidding now!

whats supposed to have happened here? i dont think a scammer would have given that much info, and provided the name of the artist

The Seller is Chest Of Colors, so it´s Mahon... Ana is his Wife... They are from Poznan...

What exactly have you observed...?...

I don´t think there is any kind of scam involved, they are really honest and kind people (I know them personally... a little...:)...)... It is not the first auction they have and why bother bidding for one´s own work while you can have a Reservation on the amount you are expecting...?... (It is like a normal auction but you can have a reserve, if it is not met, the product is not sold...)...

Edit: Wow, ebay changed a lot... people seem to have serious problems with selling miniatures nowadays... Demon Colors Shaggoth was also not sold... the price seemed too high...

Damn \"Economy\"...

Yeah the bidding process on eBay has become a joke really..Impossible to get a good fair price for anything any more. Your better off setting a buy it now price for what you feel its worth and stick with that.

Because a lot of people won\'t even bother bidding on / looking at an auction that has a reserve; that\'s pretty common on EBay.

So, the less scrupulous out there simply set up a false account and \'shill bid\' their items to higher levels. Happens all the time.

And no, I\'m not saying that\'s the case here.

Oh Wow...

I remember a time when I could place a Ork Warboss on eBay painted to an - to that time - high level (nothing too special, but all the colors in place... rather clean painting... Plus 10 hours...) and it went from 1 EURO up to 50... 80 EURO... sometimes 200 EURO...

I think there is only a few ways left to earn some money out of minis... Customers and Commissions, private Website, Rich Collectors at GD´s... Showcase at a local store, maybe... that´s it...

Wake up time at last!!

To be honest the Shaggoth is totally overpriced considering the current market.

My concern with the bidding is obvious a person with 0 bidding all the time. Seen it before. I\'m not suggesting the sellers are scamming but I don\'t trust the 0 bidder!!

Serious collectors I have come across from France and the States/Russia always bid at the last moment with plenty of $$$$

Might be time to bail out of buying from ebay and stick with my connections???

Be nice to actially know why the auction ended the way it did?

Mahon and Ana are around here, I am sure... only a matter of time until they write...

Personally, I am currently creating my own Website (http://www.mattcexwish.com ...)... On this, I will have a virtual Showcase with set prices for my work... so, if a collector is interested in buying a piece, he can contact me... Price is set, no fees in addition... that´s it...

I think this is a good way, very honest (you get, what you see and what you like to a moderate price...) and direct...

I'm actually a man!
i recently put up my blood angel army.

I made up a nice show base for it, and the army was painted to a high tabletop standard, with some time spent to make the army coherent and look themed.

I put a reserve on and a buy it now (the buy it now was quite high, but if folk want something straight away they will pay for it.

I had 40 people watching it at the end, and it only made £155 (£135 was the reserve) i got quite annoyed as i have seen plenty of armies painted to a very similar standard to mine, go for £300- £500.

i understand thats how ebay works and it sells for what it sells for, but that was about £300 worth of stuff, well painted with a lot of interest, but as ever its the last 5 minutes where anyone bids and even then it was only £20 over the quite low reserve.

It makes me wonder why i bother trying to put effort into an auction when i can just slap on some paint and make £100 or take time and effort, making an army look really good and get an extra £50.

ah well.
hopefully my wood elves i am working on will fare better.

for fantasy and sci fi ebay is flooded with gw painted miniatures.
if your not prepared to work for less than minimum pay then avoid selling on fleabay.

second, without a rep you will make more money by basecoating and dipping armies, i shit you not.
