Play Zombicide with others on Google +

Wouldn't it be great, now that you have the game, to play with others even though they are not in your geographical location. Or just watch a game in progress whether you have the physical game or not - - hell you could even join in if you don't have the game. One solution is Google+. I've been using Google+ for the last yr 1/2 on a daily basis and it's free and it works well. It does limit you to 10 participants and can hog up resources on a 2 core processor but overall it's a winner.

So what we'll need is a group of people or groups all in the same Google Circle.

Step 1 - If you don't have chrome or google + here are the links.
www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/brows...gn=en&utm_source=en-ha-na-us-sk&utm_medium=ha
www.plus.google.com

Step 2 - add me to your circles..There are alot of Scott Myers, I have an avatar from my Youtube channel name "Killaminis" . This link should bring you to me or my homepage www.plus.google.com/s/scott myers ( It's recommended that you create some other circles for specialized groups so when you talk to your good friends the others aren't invited to the hangout or vice versa.)

Step 3 - You can post on this forum to schedule a hangout but it's best to use Google+ as the catalyst. Since I'm very familiar with Google + I will start sending out invites to anyone who adds me to their circles. I plan on doing this every weeknight to over the next couple of weeks to get things started. Plus, I can give you Goggle+ advice if you want to coordinate your own private hangouts.

Step 4 - It's preferred that you have webcam and a microphone. ( Most webcams have a mic built in ). At a minimum you have to have a working Microphone.

Step 4b - if your only going to spectate 4a isn't needed but you may be asked to leave if we don't have any players of the game.

If you run into any problems you can drop me an email at myerssa1970@yahoo.com or drop a reply to this thread ect.

Hope to See you on Google +

Killa.

I like this idea.

Hmm... Would it allow us people not in the US (and whom therefore don't have the game yet) to play already?

Yes, as long as one person in the hangout has the game and is willing to do all the work. I've done this sort of hangout with SDE with some of my close friends and it was pretty cool.

Added, although I have no webcam on my computer and am usually not available late in the evenings, at least not at the moment. Still, maybe later this weekend. Might even be able to get my wife in on a game. We'll see.

I now have a hangout open ready to play mission 01. If you've added me to G+ you should see a hangout from your G+ homepage. Once there click join hangout to jump in. I'll keep this open until 11pm EST.

Just finished playing Scenario 01 via Google+ with killaminis, and we got overrun, even without hitting the 'no minis = extra turn' problem!

Though, we did have 3 survivors (Wanda, El Cholo, Dave) wounded within a couple of turns and 1 survivor (Dave) rolling misses all the time.

It ended with me left with Amy, packing twin sawn-offs, backing up in the building top-right, with a hoard of zombies coming through the lower-right door, franticly searching, with a flashlight taped to one of the sawn-offs, 'cos she didn't have anything that she could open a door with!

Then out came a 'zombies move again' card, during the zombie spawn phase, and she got taken down by too ravenous runners! So, not even her Goalie Mask could save her!

But, it was great fun, none the less.

This game is brilliant!

Even when you lose it's great fun!

People are weird. Or maybe just want to move their pieces on their own. It is quite sad, as we certainly had fun playing through this. It's especially good for those of us not in the States or just don't have our copies for whatever reason, IMO.

It does take a while, though, which is probably just the unfortunate side effect of having one person having to track all the minis and such. Hopefully we'll get that moving a little easier with experience.

I know what you mean about people, we are a strange creature indeed. Fun, hell yeazzz it was a good time. I'm pretty sure we can get these games around 1.5 - 2hrs. I need to figure out a way to improve the image quality for those with low bandwidth connections tho to assist those with the ability to see the pieces. Ha, if I painted them that would help. Lol

It might be an issue for some europeans.

The first game I played via Google+ with KillaMinis did end sometime around 05:00ish GMT!

But then the second game with me, KillaMinis, and Droganis, started at 21:00 GMT (4pm for them iirc), and went on 'till, IIRC, 01:00 or maybe 02:00 GMT.

So, yeah, us Europeans have to be prepared for a late night, or, a much better plan, if you ask me, is for the people on the US side of the big pond to just take a day off work! :p

Not sure there's much you could do. I doubt even painting the figures would help much (well, apart from Ned, who was invisible to me for most of the game the other night).

If BT don't get their act together soon and give me the option of switching to Infinity (their Fibre-To-The-Cabinet solution (which would give me much better bandwidth (I'm on copper and get 3Mbps on a good day atm))) I'm gonna tell them to go screw themselves and switch to Virgin Media (which is already Fibre, so will give me better bandwidth, out-of-the-box, as it were) - I only went with BT 'cos they were in the process of upgrading everyone, and whilst the Exchange I'm connected to has been upgraded, either the Cabinet I'm on hasn't, or some monkey just hasn't thrown the right switch!

Your right, for the europeans it would be very difficult unless you were already on an up all nite schedule. Hopefully, you all will get your copies soon and the roles can be reversed. You will be hosting the games and wondering " where the hell is everyone ".. Lol. Well anyhow, we'll keep spreading the word and eventually we should end up with a couple of groups that play regularly.

Wow, sounds like you have your hands full with your Internet Providers there ! In terms of the game, I was thinking about placing index cards in the zones.. maybe black or a dark color would give a more high contrast differential between the grey figs. At least this way you'll be able to tell where the blobs are..haha.

Well, let me know the next time you get a game going. If it's during the day, I'll be happy to join, but I wake up early everyday and go to bed quite early (10pm gmt+1)

We, that is myself, KillaMinis, and others on Google+ haven't played in a while, however, to answer your question, we're spread around the world - KillaMinis is the US, I'm in the UK, others are in Canada, and parts of Europe, so arranging times when people can play can be tricky, but in the past we've generally started late evening GMT (I think 21:00 GMT was about the earliest we've started).
